Suppose the OKC-Boston trade never happened. Is OKC in better shape with Jeff Green and Nenad playing with the Westbrook injury now than having Perk?

I'm going to say no especially since Nenad Krstic is playing in Russia and not the NBA. That means that Perkins is a much better big man than Krstic.

Jeff Green did miss a year for his heart issue and could have collapsed while playing for the Thunder as he might not undergone the tests prior to the trade that would have found the problem.

Green averages 6 more points per game than Perkins and they are relatively even in every stat except for rebounds in which Perkins has 3 more per game. It's possible that Green could pick up the slack for Westbrook but unlikely as he has not done so for the injured Rondo.

Now, the real question is whether the Thunder could have used Nate Robinson (also part of the deal) and the answer is yes. The Thunder waived him 10 months after the trade.

The trade was made with the idea that Bynum and Gasol would be anchoring the Lakers frontcourt for the next 8 years.

It's hard to assess player movement value before things like injuries and other team's player movement happen.

I'm sure the Thunder are missing Green, Harden, Maynor, etc. But no one saw Patrick Beverley happening.

While I normally object to spam, I find that a bot spam attack for baby bibs perfectly acceptable in a thread about Kendrick Perkins.

The other problem.with Jeff is his position. Too many times he was the 4 and would get torched. It forced Durant to defend 4s and also cost Harden minutes and shots. Those extra minutes and shots made Harden a star and ultimately forced the trade to Houston. It is a shame that we lost him for salary cap reasons and the only thing the caused it was drafting smartly and developing players. The NBA has a problem when teams have to move players they drafted due to the luxury tax while the larger market teams routinely have payrolls in excess of 75 million.

I believe this, as well. But what is odd, is now that OKC is facing Memphis with Gasol & Randolph, Perkins hasn't exactly been impactful. This last game he only played 17 minutes, 2 points.

Again, I think the logic behind the trade was sound. I just don't think Perkins has developed that much as he possibly could have (unlike Ibaka).
