Mentioned in Mike and Mike this morning he is up for Nets job. Thought that was interesting. Figured he would have a year as an assistant before he got a shot.

I don't see that working out. He needs some time as an assistant otherwise the Nets are going to be used as his OJT. Kidd as also more of a talent guy as opposed to a knowledge guy. He could just do amazing things with a basketball. Often times those players don't make the best coaches.

The Spurs should hire him for a few days as a consultant on how to run the fast break. They turn a 2 on 1 or 3 on 1 into a turnover or horrible shot way too often.

Yea he needs a couple years of experience as an assistant coach before he dives into a head coaching job. That is the route Hornacek took before he landed the Suns job.

I'm a huge JKidd fan but there is no way a playoff team should hire a coach who just retired as a player.

I would think this kind of move would be from a really bad team trying to get publicity.

Did they learn nothing from the Avery Johnson hire?

Jason Kidd will probably make a real good coach, but he is NOT READY currently, IMO. He hasn't coached one play yet.

@ESPNStatsInfo: Jason Kidd: 1st player to become head coach in season immediately after retirement since Mike Dunleavy (LAL, 1990-91). via @EliasSports

Fascinating. Is this a sign that Deron Williams is controlling the front office? I could see Kidd being a great coach or I could see it being a disaster. Kidd was basically a coach in the court the past few seasons. Literally. He invented a new position of dictating the offense and transition game without ever crossing the 3 point line. I loved how in 2011 there were reports of how Carlisle would let Kidd completely run the offense at the end of games, which was a big part why they were the best team in the league in close games those years. Then see how they fell off a cliff in the clutch this year. But how can Kidd translate his genius BBIQ to the players?
