The Boston Celtics are deep in discussions with the Los Angeles Clippers on a blockbuster deal to send coach Doc Rivers and Kevin Garnett to Los Angeles, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.
The final hurdle of a deal centers on the Clippers' willingness to include guard Eric Bledsoe into a trade package with Boston, sources said.
Boston and Los Angeles are discussing a package that will send DeAndre Jordan and two first-round picks to the Celtics for Garnett and the right to hire Rivers as coach, sources said.
Garnett will waive his no-trade clause to go to the Clippers, where he'll be reunited with Rivers and likely Celtics assistant Ty Lue, sources told Yahoo! Sports.
Clippers owner Donald Sterling is prepared to pay Rivers in the neighborhood of the $7 million annual salary he currently holds with the Celtics, front office sources said. Rivers has three years and $21 million left on his Boston deal.
Rivers could speak with Chris Paul as soon as Saturday about assurances that he will be willing to re-sign with the Clippers should Rivers and Garnett join him in Los Angeles, sources said.
The Celtics and Rivers want a finality to these talks, and there's pressure to complete a deal in the next two days or walk away completely, sources said.

I'm not sure it makes sense to trade DeAndre Jordan, Eric Bledsoe, and two first rounders for Kevin Garnett and Doc Rivers. Next year will be Garnett's 19th season.

They must think getting Rivers gives them a better chance at keeping CP3. If you keep CP3 and gain Doc Rivers that alone is worth giving up DJ, Bledsoe and 2 first rounders. Add in that they would get Garnett and Pierce for the next couple years it would be a good move.

Keep CP3
Get Doc Rivers
Get two players who will be old, but good and with contracts that expire soon. Garnett (2 years left on contract) and Pierce (1 year left on contract).
Probably have the best team you've had in your franchise history for the next year or two.
Try and land a big free agent to join CP3 and Griffin once Garnett's contract expires.

Garnett is just to make the salaries work. Doc is really what they want.

If Boston does this, do they also trade Rajon?

They have to keep Rondo or they have nothing.

Every time I watch Bledsoe play, I feel like he's a really good young player. Is it just me or is he not putting up the numbers and getting the kind of attention he ought to be?

Sterling is a very smart owner. He isn't in it to win, he is in it to make money and the Clippers are probably the most profitable team in the NBA.

Boston's price has to come down for the Clips to do this deal.

Clippers have plenty of backup plans with Hollins, Karl, and Brian Shaw.

The unspoken thing on this trade is that the Clippers are trying to get the coach that Paul wants so he will re sign and they don't let him walk to Houston/Atl/Dallas

Yes, that is correct.

CP3 is the key to all of this.

Reports are saying that it's almost a done deal and that the Clips are preparing a press conference for the anouncement. It's also believed that Pierce will join the Clips if the deal goes through.

Pierce is still under contract for next year so the Celtics would have to trade him or buy him out before he could leave for the Clips.

jordan and 2 firsts is not that much to give up... garnett even at 70 is still better than deandre. and the picks will be in the mid 20s where it is essentially a crap shoot to pick up a contributor. it seems like if you are convinced this will get paul to sign and doc is the coach you really want then haggling over the additional first rounder is silly

this deal will get done. Just some back and forth. The Clips will then get Howard.
