Nope, not the same. The Rangers had never won it before and still haven't. The Spurs have. They can shake it off. The question is will they?

Spurs need to hope for a 2005 NLCS redux. When Roy Oswalt and the astros got up off the deck to win the series in St. Louis after Pujols' devastating 9th inning HR in game 5

Hey I have an idea! Let's just cancel the game and give the trophy to the Heat. This is basically what you're suggesting.

Within a limited context, its the same thing. Both teams had the game all but wrapped up (I think statistically, given the same time left and points ahead the Spurs were, most NBA teams win 99% of the time).

In a larger view, the Spurs are champions. They just got a huge gut check. But if you said who was the one team you think could rebound from that, I'd have said the Spurs.

I had the same thought. Blow game six and possibly no show in game seven.

No matter what you can say for the Spurs and their experience. The fact is NO road team has ever won a game seven in the finals after losing game six. The Spurs themselves have never been a road on game seven in the finals. And they've definitely never tried to win a game seven in the finals against the greatest player in the world on his home court.

Overcoming this would be one of the most impressive sports feats of all time.

The trophy was being rolled up to the court! The game was over. 28 seconds left down 5. The heat and everybody watching knew it was over. Amazing

They have won Game a Game 7 on the road and they have won 2 Titles on the road. They have also won a Game 7 in the Finals. They are now 14-3 in closeout games in the playoffs on the road which is an insane statistic. The Spurs in the Duncan era have been one of the best road teams in NBA history.

Oh, and they won their last Title on the road against that same "Best Player in the World".

Most importantly to me though is I don't think the Heat intimidate the Spurs a bit nor do I think they are a vastly superior team. This isn't like some series in the past that the Spurs lost where they had matchups they simply couldn't answer. The only problem the Spurs have had in that regard is being able to keep their matchup solutions in the game long enough. As great as Lebron is the Spurs have contained him effectively with the Diaw/Leonard combo guarding him and making him work so hard for his points. Compare that to the Mavs in '06 where the Spurs simply could not solve Dirk.

Doesn't mean they win Game 7 but they are certainly capable.

No comparison whatsoever....

The Heat have been playing catch up since their Game 4 win with D-Wade finally showing up in the Finals.

The pressure is still all on the Heat right now because they have to do it again tommorrow.

This isn't OKC, the Spurs are veterans with a lot of experience, I don't see them getting panicky as much as Miami.

Lebron owes Ray Ray dinner and a lot more for helping his legacy survive another game.
