Forgot about Pujols v Lidge. That was a kick to the nuts.

Tech game was 2002, maybe?

We missed an extra point in regulation AND overtime. Plus Tech tied the game by returning a kick off all the way. I will never forget the anger I had after that game. I realized I had some issues with my sports emotions.

It was 2002, just looked it up. It was also ridiculously hot for an October game, if I remember correctly, and we had the excellent kick time of 1 pm for a non-televised game.

Pretty much everything having to do with Tech from 99-08 blew goats.

He is talking about the football game. Dominique Zeigler.

A&M has a basketball team?? Really those loses to UCLA and Memphis were bad too. Hell, all A&M football and bball over the past decade have too many bad ones to list.

Funny, after that Tech loss, I decided it was no longer worth it to get so worked up over a game, but this game still sticks out in my mind as one of the most painful that I can remember.

If the Spurs win Game 7, last night won't matter at all. I laugh when I see the Pujols shot. If the Astros had lost the next game, it would be #1 for me. As it stands now, it's not on the list at all.

Since becoming relevant, A&M basketball has had some pretty sh/t-tastic exits from the Big Dance.

LSU buzzer beater 2006
Memphis missed layup 2007 (by far the most painful on this list)
UCLA no call 2008
Purdue OT loss 2010

Granted, the nature of the tournament makes for a lot of heartbreaking losses, but you'd be hard pressed to find a team that had that many heartbreakers in a five year stretch.

The loss vs Kansas in 2010 was tough as well. Greatest atmosphere I've ever experience at Reed, and we had the lead for most of the game. To lose that one was definitely a tough pill to swallow

I really don't see how .4 is worse than this. It was game 5 of the conference semis. Last night was game 6 of the Finals.

The ropes were there, the stage was there, the trophy was there. Tim was a free throw away from another Finals MVP.

This is way worse.

Obviously, if we win tomorrow. It won't matter.

The '02 Tech game. There were others that were worse in terms of what happened but the '02 Tech game was so bad it changed my entire outlook on sports. I realized I could live and die with Aggie football and allow it to affect me on a deeply personal level, or I could stay married.

As much as '11 Texas hurt I got over it quickly. I went down on the field with my son and threw around the ball. Got up the next morning and bought a new hunting rifle to have something else to think about.

It's still just a game with a bunch of people I don't know personally playing and there are more important things in life, I didn't really take that to heart though until after '02 Tech. My wife just was at the point where she dreaded me watching my teams because if they won or lost it would make or break the next few days. So I finally got perspective.

Oh, and as a Spurs fan .04 and the '06 Finals both were much worse than last night imo. I came into last night with low expectations because it felt like a game the Spurs are more likely to lose. When I saw just how awful Manu was playing and Pop left him in I could see him blowing it as well. They just weren't playing smart late in the game. In the .04 game it felt like Duncan's shot had won the game and I still am furious that they claim Fisher caught the ball, landed, spinned, and took a shot in .04. In '06 Manu had played a great game right until he fouled Dirk in the most boneheaded way imaginable. The game last night just never felt quite right.

Dino is correct. Last night's loss is a lot more devastating than any other. It was a series-clinching game in the NBA Finals.

This is all assuming we lose tomorrow. If we win, then it's a moot point.

Last night.

.4

Manu foul on Dirk

Here's an odd one that I don't remember seeing anyone say:

Botched snap vs Seattle in 2006 NFL Wildcard round. After making the playoffs only 3 times since winning a playoff game in the '96 season I thought the Cowboys might get one finally. Add in the following year of going 13-3, winning the division, and losing to the Giants in the playoffs, both sucked.

.4, Manu's foul on Dirk, and game 6 of the '83 WCF against the Lakers which made me hate them forever.

Game 6 this year sucked, no doubt. Somewhere along the last few games I've just been incredibly grateful that the Spurs made it this far...after the last few years (the '11 Memphis 8 seed debacle, the meltdown against OKC last year) I never thought the Spurs would see the Finals again so I've just been enjoying the ride and feeling lucky that as a fan I've gotten to watch some of the greatest basketball I've ever seen and it comes from the franchise I root for over anything else.

Rangers/Cardinals World Series Game 6

Though Game 7 was pretty bad as well. They opened up the stadium after the final pitch so anyone could come in and see the celebration -- which essentially trapped everyone in the lower level seats of the stadium. No big deal if you're a Cards fan, was just another level of hell for us Rangers fans in attendance. And it started raining. And it was the second year in a row I'd watched up close the opposing team celebrate a World Series.

I considered quitting sports after that, but I was hooked right back in by Sumlin.

My wife made fun of me all last year for swearing to her that I was done with college football forever after that game.

I loved that game, but I do miss the Oilers. I thought Giff Nielsen was going to start crying on Channel 11 after the Bills won.
