Duncan sucks

I don't get why everyone thinks he will.

I thought he was as motivated as he's ever been. The dude's game isn't predicated on athleticism like 90% of today's NBA center's is.

Point is, he doesn't NEED to retire, unless he wants to. He scored 20 points or MORE in the NBA finals against the best team in the league in 4 games.

If he retires, so be it, he's earned it. But let's not say that he's too old to play the game.

leonard can only get better. i think he stays for one more.

We've never seen Duncan have to rebound from a devastating finals loss like this. That last miss is the type that leads to nightmares - you could see it in his face in several shots afterwards. He'll be back - spurs need another rim protector to help him out desperately though.

Pop said he stays as long as Tim stays. Brett Brown just left for Atlanta. I don't see him leaving if he thought the Spurs job would open up. Tim is comming back for one more year.

Spurs have a lot of flexibility this off season. Lots of cap space and Tiago has a small cap hold vs what he will make. Duncan and Parker have friendly contracts. Leonard and Green cost about $6mm total.

Best case senario:

Manu takes $3mm or less
Spurs get a post player that can score and rebound [Al Jefferson]
Spurs get a combo guard that can shoot some [Devin Harris]
Let Neal walk.
Resign Tiago to 6-7mm/year deal.

Kawhi is going to sick in a few years, I just don't see anyone else on the roster as is that can do what Manu does when he's on.

However, I think he keeps playing. There are certain guys that retire when they can no longer dominate. But there are guys that will keep playing because they love the game, even if they can't perform at the elite level they once did.

Moses, Chief, Dominique, Kareem, Stockton & Malone, etc all played for quite a while.

And Duncan isn't just hanging around, he's still playing at a high level.

My guess is he comes back.

But Manu should have retired after Game 5.

Jeff Van Gundy had it right when he called Duncan the best Power Forward ever. He's had more longevity than Hakeem. I give the nod to Duncan as a better player.

I like Randy Foye to replace Neal. He took a 1 year deal in Utah for 2.5 last year because no one wanted him. Not sure he is going to handle the ball, though.

The problem with Jefferson is he is terrible at D. Along side Duncan, not too big of a problem, but not sure he and Splitter can share court time.

Splitters cap hold is only like 4.9m, so you can just sit there with him. Spurs can resign Manu or renounce him or S&T him.
