This isn't the same situation as Duncan's extension. Now if Pop retired and Tony Parker left the team, it might be close to the same situation. Duncan took less to keep a contending team together. The Lakers aren't close to contending right now.

Well, if there's one way to help your team out of mediocrity, it's to demand 24 million per when you're sitting in the crowd with a torn achilles at 35 years of age.

Kevin Love can opt out of his contract after next season. He ain't signing with the Lakers when Kobe is bringing down 24 mil.

The return of Kobe was perfect. He comes back and they get worked at home by the 6-12 Raptors missing Rudy Gay and 2 other players.


Actually though, that whole team shot like crap that game, including Kobe, they went 8-32.

Damn, that really sucks for Kobe and the Lakers. To finally get back (maybe a little early) and then get another injury is rough.

A lesser player might fold but Kobe's work ethic will have him back out there soon enough.

2 years and $48 million are starting to look even more foolish though.

On the plus side the Lakers aren't shopping Gasol around anymore, which I assume is a direct result of Kobe's injury but still the right move anyway.

Tough luck for Kobe, but I still don't regret the Lakers giving him the two year deal. The man has earned it, and it's not like there's anyone worth signing this offseason. As critical as I've been of Pau, it's sad to see him on his last legs. I doubt he will be a Laker next year.

There's no way he stays and that percentage goes to 0 if D'antoni is still around.

Tough break for Kobe, and I remember watching the play when it happened, although it didn't look to be much out the ordinary.

Honestly, it might be a blessing if the Lakers decide to go all Eastern Conference and work themselves to a lottery pick.
