He's played the 3rd most games among active players. It's to be expected.

Guy was still a top 5 player in the league last year too. Even if this is the end, Kobe was a top 5 player in the league from 01-13. Thats an insane run of high level play and consistency.

I can see that. They're all close in terms of numbers. Parker, Kobe, and Harden all had 23 in PER last year, Russell was 23.9. I definitely think that Westbrook was better and honestly, Parker is probably a more efficient player too at this point. So you're right although I'd say my point about Bryant being a player of astounding consistency and the ability to play at a high level for a long time still stands, even if he is number 6.

I don't agree that Harden is better though. Bryant beat Harden in points per game, rebounds per game, and assists per game last year, both in overall average and per 36 minutes. Their PER's are the same but Bryant has an edge defensively too. I understand that Kobe isn't anywhere close to the defender he used to be, that he can be downright bad at times. But he does have the ability to lock down in spurts. Harden on the other hand, is one of the worst defenders in the league at his position. He's lazy, disinterested, and honestly a liability on the defensive end. I still think Harden is a top 10 player but I would have taken Kobe over him last year.

TNT posted his play-off minutes last night which are equivalent to an extra 2.7 seasons. Lot of wear and tear on them bones.

Add in Olympics and it's more minutes too.

He could still have 2-3 more productive seasons. His body just needs some rest. If he spends the next 10 months re-habbing his whole body, and they limit him to the high 20s in minutes per game, he probably will muster a pretty respectable end of his career.

I don't think Kobe was a top 5 player in the NBA last year and the advanced stats reflect that.

Top 5 in WARP in 2012-2013 season:
1. Lebron
2. Durant
3. CP3
4. Harden
5. Westbrook

Kobe was 9th. In 2011-12 Kobe was 36th. In 2010-11 Kobe was 14th.

Lebron, Durant, CP3, Carmelo, and Brook Lopez were top 5 in PER last year.

Kobe was 10th in PER. In 2011-12 he was also 10th. In 2010-11 he was 6th in PER.
