It's hard to not think the nba is rigged between the drafts, the Donahue scandal and the way the refs favor teams and players. It's almost as if the nba wants that question out there. Do folks really think the cavs beat the 1 in 100 odds tonight?

Absolutely zero reason why they can't do the lottery live

The NBA has a huge image problem with conspiracies/reffing/etc and so much of the problem is self-imposed

The only problem is why the F would the NBA rig the lottery for Cleveland? No national following and they had the Knicks, Lakers and Celtics in the lottery. Rigging it for Cleveland makes zero sense.

That's true. Maybe the entire state of Ohio follows the Cavs closely (have no idea). Ohio has a decently large population.

....unless you want Levron back in Cleveland. Then it makes some sense.

Not saying I think its rigged, though.

You can come up with a reason for any team ifyou want to. The easiest one for the Cavs would probably be lebrons glorious return to a young but talented team in a couple years.

Why they can't hold a live lottery drawing as stated above is beyond me. It would add excitement and make 99% of the conspiracy theories go away.

Agree with the Lebron conspiracies.

3 lottery wins in 4 years.

No where near the fan bases of NYC/Boston/LA.

David Stern was asked about his dream Finals and he said it would be Lakers vs Lakers.

Having Cleveland, Milwaukee, San Antonio, Oklahoma City, Portland, etc great does the NBA no good compared to having LA, NYC and Boston great.

If LA, Boston, NY, NO, or Philly or even Orlando had won it, people would have been saying it is rigged.

Good lord.

It wouldn't add excitement to watch it live because you have to start with the number 1 pick.

Then go to #2, then #3. And you may have to repeat those if you get duplicate numbers.

All it is like watching a 4 ball lottery drawing and seeing who has the numbers, but watching it 3-5 times.

Hey, me too.

At least the Celtics didn't win.

This might be a year where picking number 2 is better. There will be huge pressure to take the big guy, but I don't know that he's the best player.

Considering only one team has ever won the NBA Championship with their #1 lottery pick, most years it might be better to pick #2.

One thing about conspiracy theories on the internet: they never go away, the goalposts just move.

Houston, LA, San Antonio, Portland have all won 'ships w/ their #1 overall pick.

The Lottery was instituted because of the Rockets tanking for Hakeem. Back then the worst team and second worst team flipped a coin for the #1 pick. It was originally called the Rocket Rule. The following year was the first year of the lottery, where Stern picked an envelope for the Knicks to have the rights to draft Ewing. It has been said that the corner was intentionally bent so Stern could find it or that it was frozen before placed in the lottery so he could pick out the Knicks one.

Sorry, I edited it to say lottery pick. In the lottery era, only Robinson and Duncan won the title with the team that drafted them before leaving their team.

1985 was the first draft of the lottery era. Lakers haven't had a #1 pick since James Worthy in 82. Portland's only #1 pick in the lottery era was Greg Oden. Houston's only #1 pick in the lottery era was Yao Ming.

For those that believe watching the actual drawing is exciting, NBA.com has it, and like I mentioned above, it is pretty boring and anti-climatic because you start with #1.

Good luck making it through the almost 7 minute snooze fest.
