If they are paid per game then that needs to stop.

The playoff refs are chosen based on who was the best refs in the regular season and in other playoff series. How they determine that is anyone's guess. Seniority plays a part as well.

But I know they get paid a set salary that includes the regular season and pre-season and the games they are chosen to ref for the playoffs is like a year-end bonus for them. They get paid for each game and the later in the playoffs the game, the more they get paid. So game 7 Finals refs get more than Game 1 Round 1 refs for the game.

Ganodorf you do know that if you stopped paying them by game there would be an incentive for them to end the series as quickly as possible.

But paying them per game then encourages series to go longer.

It is a lose lose situation.

my 2 cents worth...these playoffs started off great in the first round, but have turned boring in a hurry. Another Heat vs. Spurs/Thunder finals does not sound appealing at all

I don't really understand that comment. What do you want to see if not two of the three best teams squaring off in the finals? The Heat and Spurs play the best all-around basketball in the league with entertaining, efficient offense and smart, high intensity defense. Last year's finals, while heartbreaking for the Spurs, was a classic series. OKC's offense is a little junky, but they are an entertaining team by most peoples' standards.

this Spurs-Thunder series going on (that we have seen before) has been one blowout after another. Zero entertainment value unless you are a Spurs or Thunder fan.

Until other teams catch up it'll be some combination of these 3 teams each year.
