Why don't we just turn the NBA into Ohio St / FSU and put stickers all over their jersey for each dunk or 10 assists they get?

Kind of a lame idea. You will have probably a few teams that have tabs but not a single player that has ever won a title and you will have players that have won multiple titles without a tab. It also doesn't differentiate if you won a single Title 40 years ago or several in recent years. Thus you will have teams like the Bucks with one because they won a Title in 1971. Will Sacramento get one because multiple generations before they won the Title in 1951 as the Rochester Royals?

I like the idea of individual players getting one, returning champs having one, or even a team getting one for every title possibly.

I think a star or tab per title is the cleanest. At the end of the day, the rings are the players', but the championships are the team's.

I'm guessing this was ruled out when they didn't know how to handle the Lakers and Celtics.

People on reddit were also discussing a tiered star system. Maybe something like --

1 Title: 1 Star
3 Titles: 2 Stars
5 Titles: 3 Stars
10 Titles: 4 Stars
15 Titles: 5 Stars

One of the greater things about the nba is the small exclusive list of franchises with championships. It makes it more meaningful than other sports where any random team that gets hot at the end of the year can win. This is one way to highlight that. I like how the new commissioner is thinking in terms of brand management

Are they going to have a shadowed number in the gold tab with the number of titles? That's sort of what it looks like in that Spurs picture. If so, that wouldn't be too bad.

What happens when Seattle gets a team again? Will they retain the old sonics records like the browns did or do the Thunder keep the 1979 title?

The Thunder don't get a tab. So if Seattle did get a new team, presumably they'd inherit Seattle's 'ship.
