because now is not the time to talk about money. that's only important during free agency and contract disputes

Can Indiana use that money to pursue another player?

Isn't a clean break like that better than a ligament tear on the knee? I'm thinking he should be able to come back from this.

Not sure. I vaguely remember Chad Schroeder havinf a broken leg and coming back not nearly as quick as before. On the other hand, didn't Christine Micheal break his leg at some point? Dude looks as quick as ever.

ESPN -- said 6-12 months depending upon the speed of healing.

Get well Soon Paul George.

That was disgusting. That sucks for him and the Pacers. They will be lucky to average in the high 80s without him.

If the east was weaker, they could fall enough to get into the lottery. How interesting would it be if they won the top pick.

Not sure the east is weak enough for them to fall to lottery.

This is just terrible. I can't imagine getting excited for the next season right as you best player snaps his leg in half during a Summertime scrimmage.

Maybe this is too early, but, karma for sleeping with Hibbert's wife and destroying team chemistry which might have cost them a shot at taking down Miami?

He committed adultery with Roy Hibbert's wife. Some people think the reason Hibbert started sucking in the middle of the season was because George banged his wife and he was pissed (obviously).

Don't know how this will help team chemistry though, since Paul George won't have anything better to do than bang Hibbert's wife all season.

I'm sure it won't. But karma for blowing up the team last year.

He should play on a team with Delonte West.

So the source for that PG/Hibbert story is www.balleralert.com, huh. Sounds legit.

I think you have it backwards. A weaker east makes it easier to win, which makes it less likely to fall to the lottery. That being said, they lost their two top scorers in Lance and Paul. It doesn't look promising. Now would be a good time to trade one good player for a high pick and tank this season.

This could be the end of sending the best to FIBA events.

It will definitely be carefully considered.

I like watching international bball but I tend to agree with Cuban's perspective on FIBA and the IOC

I want to care about international basketball, it's just not that compelling. For one, a lot of the time the games are on while I'm at work. No one else gets excited and it isn't really marketed, so half the time I don't even realize a big tournament is happening. USAB wins about 95% of its games, so even if I do happen to watch it's not a compelling contest. Oh look, a freak of nature just **** all over some country full of small people who aren't very good at basketball. Wake me if they get within 20.

Start sending the college national championship team to the Olympics and I would watch. They might never win, but at least I would watch.

We lost in 2004 and I think it was very close the last 2 Olympics at least in final rounds

It took last minute heroics from Kobe to beat Spain in the Final in 2008. In 2012, we beat Spain by only 7.

I enjoy watching the US Mens Team play because it's fascinating (IMO) to see how the hierarchy of stardom/ability plays out when they're all on the same team and it matters (unlike the ASG).

Seeing the 2004 team in utter disarray. Seeing Kobe and Jason Kidd take command of a team featuring a just-got-into-their-prime Wade/Bosh/Melo/LeBron. Seeing all the young guys take the huge jump after 2012 (Durant/Westbrook/Harden/Rose/Love).

I love it.
Ulrich

Obviously there are close games and even losses (about 5% of the time). I've even watched a couple of the close ones, but I've never managed to care. It's half all-star game, half globetrotters. Fun to watch for a few minutes, but the only reason every single game doesn't end in a 30 point blowout is the all-star game nature of the USAB team. They've made a couple token efforts at continuity, but for me it's not the same as having a real team. The reality tv aspect you mentioned doesn't interest me.

You don't care, but the NBA already has you for a fan.
The big question is whether or not those guys participating makes a positive impact on the league brand and popularity worldwide. The better Spain continues to get, the more the NBA grows over there. The more it grows over there, the better Spain gets. The more they follow Spanish players over here, the more they get to know and become fans of NBA teams and American players.

If it doesn't, than it isn't worth it for the NBA.
If it does, than the NBA needs to compensate for or insure against injuries.

Like Manu, a lot of foreign players are not playing this year.

They will never win, because the best player from their team will likely not play.
