This MIGHT have been DJ's only chance to have an opportunity to be the go-to guy. I really think Cuban and Carlisle were going to build the team around him. Next season would not have produced a chip but the next three would have been formidable. Cuban would have gotten the pieces and, after DJ "practiced" being the main cog in Dallas for a year, the Mavs would have had a chance to be in the upper three or four in the WC. DJ with one year experience would have been epic. Oh, what could have been.

Now, he is and will be a third choice. There is no way LA allows him the necessary practice of being the main man. No way.

The plan wasn't to have a Championship caliber team for this year. The plan was to have a core to build around for the next four years minimum.

Parsons has the option to opt out next year so he has to be traded sometime this season. He's a worthless signing now and really isn't that good.
