This season will not end well if we have to play Harden 40 minutes a game. We really need to find another ballhandler who can spell him for ~12 minutes a game.

I don't think Gordon is the answer because he is our best shooter. I don't think Bev can do the job when he comes back either because he can't break a team down off the dribble. Ennis kind of sucks too.

What I wouldn't do for Goran Dragic right now....
hilarious that morey chose jeremy ****ing lin and asik vs just giving dragic the contract he wanted

We definitely need to be starting KJ instead of Brewer. Neither of them is a great 3 point shooter, they both run hard in transition and play defense, but KJ is 7 years younger...

There is really no reason to play Brewer in this situation...

I have been pondering this lately:

Now that James is the primary ball handler who would be the perfect fit to put in the backcourt with him? (not taking salary cap or trade implications in to account)

I am thinking either Kyrie because he can handle the ball and score in bunches as well (not to mention that dude is clearly a killer at the end of games as evidenced during the finals). My other thought would be Klay Thompson because of his spot up shooting and his defense would help out when James forgets to play D.

I know that neither of these things are going to happen. Just curious what your dream backcout mate would be for James

Really depends who you have at SF. I think 1/2/3 is something that needs to be planned together, and especially with 4 if you have a stretch 4 like Anderson. Klay or Kyrie would be a great addition to pretty much any team.

Ultimately, you want a combo-type player that can be your main facilitator when Harden is on the bench but can also play along side him.

I'd say a SF

Dream? I'd say Andrew Wiggins or Jimmy Butler

Reality? Not sure.

Rumor over on Clutch is that the Lakers offered Morey Nick Young for a 2nd round pick and he turned it down

Maybe, but Brewer is a good teammate, hustles, and can play a little D. Young is none of those things. If given the choice I would keep Brewer.

Young is by far a better scorer, plays above average defense and has a great frame. Brewer is an awful scorer. If he ever shot another three I would bench him for the season. If Morey turned down that trade he is a fool. But I already knew that because nothing he does makes sense. Young would also do really well catching and shooting next to Harden. He is way better than Brewer and it isn't close.

Above average d?

He's a better scorer because he shoots the ball 11-15 times per game and plays 30 min. Brewer on a bad team in Minny never took that many shots, but could average 12 a game shooting in the mid 40s. But Brewer knows is role and its as the 8th option or so. Young would be a cancer and a net negative even if he was twice the player Brewer is.

Career:

Nick Young: 41.8FG%, 36.9 3P%, 83.6% FT, 13.1 PER
Corey Brewer: 42.3 FG%, 28.6 3P%, 71.1 FT%, 12.1 PER

16-17:

Nick Young: 45.2 FG%, 35.3 3P%, 100% FT%, 16.1 PER
Corey Brewer: 36.7 FG%, 15.4 3P%, 62.5 FT%, 6.7 PER

A 6.7 PER???? Yeah just looked it up and he is 289th in the league in PER.. Nice call
So career's are pretty even and we know what kind of teammate Brewer is and what Young isn't yet you think an 8 game sample size is better when each player is playing a very different role.

Why do you keep ignoring the off the court stuff? Did you not see how dysfunctional this team was with a more talented line up last year.

Kawhi Leonard...who we should have drafted over Marcus Morris.

Of course, if you were going to build a dream team you probably would pair him with a 2 guard who could play ferocious defense and could attack the basket like Westbrook AND you would pair them with a small forward who could space the floor with excellent 3 point shooting like Durant. Maybe if you mixed in a sweet shooting power forward who could protect the rim like Ibaka you might have the makings of a dynasty.

Yea, that turned out to be a massive mistake. However, I have to wonder if we would have developed him in the way the Spurs and Pop did. He would have probably been one of the many pieces Morey flipped in his never ending journey to remake the team around James.

We did a decent job of developing Chandler Parsons who we drafted in that same draft. I think you are right though, McHale would have never improved Leonards game like Pop/Duncan. Leonard is a tornado on defense and Parsons is a matador.

I love watching Nick Young on another team, he's a very likable NBA player from a neutral fan standpoint. If I ever saw him in a Rockets uniform though, I would gouge my ****ing eyes out.

Gordon caught fire in the 2nd half, but yeah, rough shooting night overall. Lots of open looks too.

There was also a stretch at the beginning of the 4th where Brewer and KJ were playing at the same time (only lasted for a minute) but that should never happen ever.

Im assuming you meant "What will Bev bring other than defense?". If so:

1) Of all the guys who took at least 4 3-pointers a game last year, he was 9th best (40% from 3). Also, his eFG% on shots where he held the ball < 2 seconds was 63.6% (14th best). For comparison sake, Ryan Anderson was 36% and 52.3% for those two categories. For all of his limitations as a "point-guard", Bev is actually a pretty damn good shooter.

2) Attitude.
