Luc was a one year vet min, so to pay more than vet min, rockets would need to use an exception.

I think this will be a terrible year for free agents so a veteran minimum may be the only thing he actually gets and rockets can keep him.

You sign Luc after everything falls into place. If the right pieces sign with Houston.....some solid free agents will hop on board.

Here's what we do: everyone with a birthday (or any special occasion to celebrate) between now and the start of free agency needs to go to a Landry's-owned business to help out Tillman. Increased revenue, more likely he'd pay the luxury tax

See you all at Mastro's on Saturday

They need to add another line to the receipt after tip so you can donate directly to the free agent fund.

Colangelo fired from Philly. Gotta think this helps our chances at signing Lebron

Yeah I was trying to figure out if this was good for us or bad. Obviously if they kept him after all this came out, then it would be good for us. But I feel like overall this situation doesn't hurt or help our chances.

Hurts.

David Griffin is Lebron's guy and now they pitch that they will hire him if they truly are "all-in" on getting Lebron.

The way I look at it, Philly has had some issues with the front office the last few year. Same thing with Cleveland. If I'm Lebron, I don't want a repeat of that and I go somewhere with a consistent and capable Front Office...like Houston.

David Griffin may be "Lebron's guy" ... but so is CP3

Obviously it isn't a deciding factor though

I wish would could all agree to just not post rumors about this since no one ever knows what Morey is doing unless he wants people to know. But I know it'll keep happening.

Bleacher report has an article that Ariza is a name for potential players who might take a pay cut and join GS. That would suck balls. He'd be a perfect fit on that team

The Rockets aren't playing. The Finals have been predictably terrible. And. It's. An. Internet. Forum.

If you can't post unsubstantiated rumors here, where can you post them?

I just don't understand the thrill of it. Idk, maybe that's why I hate Twitter.

God that would suck. Worst part is that the best thing he'd do for them is not play for us.

Quote:

Los Angeles Clippers big man DeAndre Jordan reportedly wants to play for the Houston Rockets.
Kelly Iko of USA Today's Rockets Wire reported the news, noting Jordan "has remained focused on the possibility of playing" in his hometown of Houston. The report said Jordan told multiple Rockets players as much during the season.

According to Iko, Jordan even talked to several Houston players after the Rockets and Clippers' infamous locker room altercation following a January game and pointed to his "frustration" with Los Angeles and preference to play elsewhere.

It wasn't long ago that the Clippers were Western Conference contenders, but they traded Blake Griffin to the Detroit Pistons during the season and Chris Paul to the Rockets prior to it. The moves left Jordan as the sole remaining member of the team's old Big Three, and his frustration came during a playoff-less campaign.

Iko pointed out Jordan has a $24.1 million player option for 2018-19 but "is almost certain to decline" it to become a free agent. The report pointed to a possible sign-and-trade with Clint Capela going to the Clippers as one way to bring Jordan to the Rockets, but the Houston big man is 24 years old to Jordan's 29 and thrived on both ends of the floor at times this season.

Moving him for Jordan wouldn't be much of an upgrade to Houston's championship hopes even if it did reunite the Clippers center with Paul.

This isn't the first time the Rockets have been connected to Jordan, as Zach Lowe of ESPN.com reported in February they "got fairly far along" on a deal a year ago but didn't have the same need at the trade deadline after Capela developed into a formidable player.
Even if it's not Houston, whichever team adds Jordanif he does become a free agentwill land a two-time All-Defensive selection, three-time All-NBA selection and two-time rebounding champion who averaged 12.0 points and 15.2 rebounds a game this past season.

If deandre is willing to take a big discount then it would allow Houston to include capella with Anderson in trade possibilities.

Interesting but probably unlikely.

All I know is that Morey is going to have some options to work his magic. We're setting ourselves up to be THE team to challenge the Warriors, so any veteran that wants a shot at a ring probably wants to come here.

We'd have to get under the cap to sign DeAndre. That simply isn't going to happen. In a trade, the salaries will have to be about equal. So DeAndre taking less doesn't matter a whole lot.

Ryno+Clint+Gordon for DeAndre+Beverley

A guy can wish.

You can go over the cap to sign Capela. So make trades for LeBron (if you could work out a Anderson/Gordon for LeBron deal) and then S&T Capela using bird rights for Jordan with matching salaries.

Only way you could make that happen, but that is going to be difficult.

What do you do with CP3? Even if Hou manages to unload Anderson and Gordon, bringing on Lebron and re-signing CP3 puts Hou at $105m+ just for those 3 guys. At that point Hou is staring down the barrel of a $100m lux tax bill just to fill out the rest of the roster. (not to mention all kinds of hard cap rules that would preclude Hou from signing almost anyone of substance unless they get multiple players to agree to less than their market value)

I really think the best course is to run it back. The effort it would take and the money it would cost to overhaul the roster for just Lebron (let alone Deandre) is too much. Too many variables. Not enough flexibility.

The roster as it stands is enough. We saw that. Hou had the lead late in game 6 and game 7 with their 2nd best player hurt.
