I'm not a fan of Russ paired with Harden, only because I dont know if we're getting a humbled Westbrook after the past post season. It was the best move to make though, & I understand that.

Now if Morey can somehow pry Kevin Love down here. It would've been nice to get Steven Adams in a fire sale.

I've always hated Westbrook. I'm not convinced he's the smoking gun, but props for the Rockets having the balls yet again to make a move.

Get rid of Paul who was just ok (though not as bad as folks think) last season, a couple of picks 4 years from now. I don't count the pick swaps. Yeah it's 2 options for the Thunder... but what is their path for the first one at least when Harden is still in his prime to have a better team than the Rockets?

D'Antoni has done wonders with point guards in his career... maybe he can continue that with Westbrook.

It's only old fashioned because the Rocket Rule created the lottery.

I love this. Westbrook has to be one of the most exciting players to watch in the entire NBA and he's now one of ours.

I've been a big fan of his for a while, it will be interesting to see the fit with James going forward,.... but all the same reservations were there when we signed CP3 too.

Yeah he knows that the warriors scenario is nearly impossible, so to compete and not just have promise to compete in the future only for it not to come to fruition, you must continue what we are doing.

This is what I'm thinking as well. If he were willing to do that he wouldn't have taken the huge contract he signed and left some room to sign other players.

Sort of. There's value in 1st rounders in that even back end ones, you can lock in really good role players for cheap for about as long term as possible in the NBA now.

For this trade though, the Rockets gave them rights to swap picks in a time frame it is highly likely they won't be better than the Rockets are... so not missing out on much there. Yeah... the 24-26 picks could be worth a good amount assuming Harden and Russ start falling off in 4-5 years... but... who cares. The Rockets haven't been this good in a long time so you might as well go for broke.

I do agree in essence (like with the Lakers deal for Davis) that at some point the picks start looking like just lists of stuff more than really valuable assets.
