Just ribbing, in all seriousness though you are right that "it could work." Its just my opinion that it won't. Harden will have to be off the ball a lot more, and he likely won't be putting up the gaudy numbers he is used to.

Even with Paul and Russ everyone knows it was Harden's team. That won't be the case in BK.

I hardly think that Harden is the outsider in this situation. Durant and Kyrie didn't play a single game together last season. They have a new coach coming in and Harden and Durant have been "playing together" for more than a decade dating back to when they first got into the league.

The person I'm least worried about is Kevin Durant. He has won titles in GS, he's won Finals MVP's. He had to sacrifice a lot on that GS team to make it work. He's coming back from a bad injury and I really think he will work to defer a lot of usage to his two other stars.

The player I'm most worried about is Kyrie. No doubt this guy can play, we all know that. But his last three teams (BKN included) he has let his ego get in the way of the team's success. Forced his way out of Cleveland, and got outta Boston even though he was in a good situation.

The thing that's different about harden is he is the only one of the three without a ring. He has every other accolade you could imagine but players in the NBA are judged off of one thing: rings. At this point he knows he is gonna have to sacrifice if he wants to be like everyone else with a title.

Like I said, I only think "it could work." But if you figure it out.. harden, durant and uncle drew all on the same team is a nasty trio.

Like I said, I'm a spurs fan but I root for the rockets since I live here now. Just giving my objective 2 cents.

I think it's a "high ceiling, low floor" kind of thing. Maybe it goes really well, with Harden suddenly deciding that he doesn't mind playing off-ball sometimes, KD being one of the few players in league history to return strong from an Achilles tear, and Kyrie deciding that he's not gonna be difficult to work with.

Maybe.

But I bet it doesn't. And that it fails spectacularly.

Ouch. Talk about a guy who hasn't played meaningful minutes of basketball in almost two years due to injury and has probably the worst contract in the league.

Russ is the worst contract in the league, for sure. But yeah, it ain't great.

It's literally the same contract but at least Russ is health so.... John's is worse.

I think Russ is about to drop off a cliff in terms of production. I just say that his is worse because at least we don't know yet what John Wall will look like post-recovery.

Regardless, this is the point:

I mean ok.... I'm no Russ defender but he at least made an all-star team last year? And John Wall before injury was... not good.

Pretty wishful thinking to hope to flip JW in a year a la Chris Paul in OKC. I don't think anyone could have predicted the season that CP had last year and finished like 6th or 7th in MVP voting? Are we really thinking John Wall would even be a top 50 player?

In terms of bad contract point guards:

Chris Paul >> Russell Westbrook >>>>>> John Wall

Can't wait until we go for Mike Conley next season.

Wonder if this is Stone trying to up the offer from another team like Charlotte that really wants Westbrook

Almost certainly. I think most of the "news" coming from primary sources (Woj, Shams, etc.) is just GMs using them as mouthpieces for the sake of posturing.

Assuming Durant is healthy, I think he could honestly play alongside anyone. But Harden and Kyrie together sounds like a disaster waiting to happen.

Kyrie is gonna be pissed because he's now going to be the assistant to the assistant to the assistant coach.

I would be all for a Westbrook for Wall trade. If he can come back, I think he'd be a nice piece for a couple years. Either flip him or use the pieces from a Harden trade to have a decent squad around Wall.

Harden to warriors for combo of players and number 2 pick

Westbrook to Charlotte for players and number 3 pick

Hell yes.

It's about time someone in this organization has the balls to stand up to Harden.

Makes sense. If I finally got my dream job and it started out with 2 all stars, one a top 5 player, there is no way in hell I'm going to just watch that fade away for some lottery tickets.

Where did the Nets offer even originate from? On what planet does that offer make sense? Levert and Dinwiddie are 26 and 27 respectively.

Neither is a particularly good player nor do they have much upside at this point. They're on decent contracts but not on rookie deals.

Jarret Allen is a non-shooting big man. What's his upside? Andre Drummond? Keep him, I don't want to tie up any cap on that. Even Kyrie is a late 20s, somewhere in the 15-20th best player in the league range.

And there's no amount of late first round picks that makes any difference. If you gave the Rockets the 26th overall pick in perpetuity until the end of humanity, there's a good chance you'd get maybe a single player who's better than the 9th man on a title winning team.

I'd trade Harden for Durant. That's it. Harden is probably the 6th or 7th best player in the league when everyone is healthy. Durant is probably the 1st or 2nd BUT he IS coming off major injury. We'll take the risk.

Levert, Dinwiddie, and Allen is the kind of offer you make for Demar Derozen. If the Rockets are even entertaining this offer, we as a fanbase are in DEEP trouble.

Dumb question alert - if it is about Harden wanting to play with Durant, any opportunity to get Durant to Houston?

Houston doesn't have the draft assets or players to make that work. The Nets have what they want with Durant/Kyrie and Nash to coach them.

Might as well go for LeBron if we're willing to part with this much.

Good to see that Silas and Stone don't appear to be afraid of James. They are at least saying the right thing for now.

My guess is that if James isn't traded he comes in fat and we get to watch months of Sleepy James going through the motions on the court.
