Luka is about to be the next face of the NBA, and the NBA hasn't really had a truly marketable white player since Larry Bird.
Dirk( IMO to his detriment) never sought out the media attention, and never had a lot of allies in the media.
Luka has received more praise from the media in the last two years than Dirk ever did before June of 2011.

Dirk was at the very end of his prime in 2011. The discussion around him at the time was top 20 all-time. The only discussion about Luka should be MVP.

SGA just got 55% from the field, came in 2nd in MVP, 7th in DPOY, and was top 3 in ppg, per, vorp, etc. he's unquestionably a top 4 player in the NBA right now.
Luka was a 35% shooter or less until this year and he was easily top 4, too
Sure, I meant I'd put him 4th. You can let him drop 35 on contested mid-range jumpers and live with it. But if he became a 40% 3 point shooter, his assists probably go up too. 30/10 with 50/40/90 seems possible.
And by 50, yeah, more like 53 - amazing for a guard.

I think he just isn't the type of PG that will get a ton of assists like Luka or Haliburton. He is more of an ISO scorer. Maybe that changes when they dump Giddey this offseason.

Seems like he goes into the paint to score. It's been a slow acceptance watching these PG's get 10 feet from the basket with open looks and passing the ball. Guys like Jeff Hornacek and George Gervin must be rolling in their graves.
