Yes, he's a role player (that is my point). A soon to be 30yr old average role player that the Mavs overpaid to acquire for reasons that make no sense with the roster as currently constructed.

Can we just loan the franchise to Vegas until we can realistically rebuild the team again? Lets call it until 2032

Franchise is gone, just like that. It's hardly worth following anymore other than to watch the carnage.

Mavs almost choked away the L but got the job done. Suns won their easiest remaining game to overtake the Mavs for 10th. Hopefully them officially getting in to the play in spot makes them pick it up.

Don't look now but the Trailblazers have been playing good ball and are only 2 games back of the Mavs after a win against Memphis tonight.

Trailblazers have one hell of a remaining schedule though. Gonna be tough for them to catch the Mavs

Theirs is 9th hardest but they do have 4-5 very easy games left.

The big problem is the Suns have an insanely hard remaining schedule. They have 1 easy game against the Spurs and every other game is against a playoff team. They've been playing better without Beal but they have their work cut out for them.

I don't love it, but there's a very real chance the Mavs back in to the play-in. You may as well have these guys ready just in case.

A more cynical take would be that they just want these guys available for the home game against the Lakers on April 9th.

The more Cuban talks the more details leak out that he thinks this was a terrible trade.

This scene accurately captures Mavericks fans and how we feel after what appears to have been deliberate sabotage of the franchise by Nico and Dumont.

I wonder how high Walter Clayton Jr. will climb draft boards by the end of the tournament.

He's a little Jamal Murray-ish to me and has a 2:1 assist to turnover ratio also. Hes pretty old, but that ability and production can't be ignored. Mavs could consider his age and experience a bonus given the window they've forced on themselves.

What is worse?

A. Getting Mr. Glass and Max Christie for Luka.

B. Getting nothing for Steve Nash.

C. Getting nothing for Jalen Brunson

D. Both B & C

Luka trade is the worst by far. Mavs got better after Nash left and I don't think a team build with Dirk and Nash could have gotten to the same heights as Dirk did with Kidd, Terry, and Marion.

Trading Luka at all is the worst trade any org has made in my lifetime

There is no debate whatsoever. Luka. It might be the worst trade in NBA history. Good players get away on UFA all the time.

The PG13 to LAC and Durant to PHX might challenge it.

At least one could argue that the moves were good moves at the time and there was a clear vision there. That can't be said here. It was atrocious from the jump…I'd rather swing and miss than do something that's just plain idiotic for no reason.

Those didn't turn out, but this one would have been rejected right off the bat by everyone. It was so bad that they kept it from the 27% owner who had 25 years of experience running the team. I also anticipate it ushering the Mavs into an era of being the worst team in the league in 2-3 years and with no picks. And it's caused a rift between fans and new ownership that might honestly not really ever heal over. This could easily be a franchise cratering move for a decade. I think they also raised the hurdle for getting gambling approved and public cooperation/funding for a stadium, which was really their main goal of buying the team. Truly baffling mismanagement and misreading in every way.

Their chance to avoid the abyss would be to flip some of these guys before their value goes to 0 due to age. But the egg on their face is going to keep them from doing it because that would be admitting massive failure

Exactly right. Ego will get in the way of salvaging something from this.

And I've been pretty ambivalent on gambling. But if given the chance to vote on it, I'll now vote no just for spite.

Edit: Meant to use the smiley emoji, but this one works too

Yea this is 10x worse than the Durant trade and the PG13 trade. PG looks bad in hindsight but no one knew what SGA was going to turn into. And it's not like they gave away SGA after he was 1st tem NBA for 4-5 years and they had just made the finals. If that had happened, then you could argue that trade was worse. It would be like okc making the finals this year and then trading away SGA next year for a 32 year old piece of glass and other *****

I'm a huge gambler. But I will now vote no on any gambling bill that would benefit dumbass dumont and the adelsons. I'll just keep using bovada.

Similar and was in the pro-gambling to TX camp. But I don't need a casino in Irving to bet sports, and as a blackjack and craps guy, I was already assuming any table gambling we get will be b*st*rdized like the OK version with bull**** antes and other adjustments that put the odds even further in the casino's favor. I really only play those in Vegas. Would have voted for it before, but I am 100% voting against it now. It failing is our way out from this ownership

I don't like rooting for injuries, but AD pulling another muscle after getting rushed back to save face would be chef's kiss hilarious.

At $60MM a year, I don't think he really cares. He'll cadillac around the court for the last few games and realize he's been put out to pasture on the worst team in the league . . . but with an amazing retirement plan.
