In case none of you guys saw it. The Quad City River Bandits won the Midwest League Championship last weekend. Josh Hader(Bud Norris Trade)capped off the sweep with a 7 shutout innings performance. Hader only gave up 3 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8 as Quad City swept South Bend to win the championship. All of the Astros minor league teams made the playoffs this year with Tri-City and Quad City winning their classifications championship.

I remember watching Hunter Pence during a game right after he was first called up. He was playing center field and made this amazing catch on Tal's hill and the crowd just erupted and gave him a huge ovation. I remember thinking that this guy was going to be a pretty good player for us and he was going to be our CF for a long time.

Then when Lyles was first called up I remember having the same exact feeling while watching his first start. He pitched really well in his first start and got a big ovation from the crowd.

Then we proceeded to lose the next 10 games that he started. I can't wait to start seeing some fresh faces up in Houston very soon.

this is the danger of relying heavily on the MLB draft to improve your team. The astros have 3 1st round picks on their roster from the 2008 draft: Castro, Wallace, and Lyles.

I think I have finally lost faith in Lyles. He just has not showed much improvement and he still goes out there and gets lit up. That glimmer of hope after his solid June against bad teams is gone. It doesn't hurt too bad considering how much pitching talent we have in the minors, but I really wanted Lyles to succeed.

Hopefully the pitching talent in the minors pans out. That's what so hard about prospects. Some of them tear it up in the minors and then flop in the majors. (Wallace)
