Plus, any of those SS's could be a 3rd basemen. Some scouts think that Correa is ultimately bound for 3rd base in the long run even though it's too early to tell.

I was listening to the game on and off and the announcer describes him as "the speedy Correa" several times. This kid is exciting.

Also says that we are one of three teams supposedly interested in Aaron Harang, who's was DFAd by the Rockies.

The only way it makes sense to me to add someone like Harang is if the Astros are finally willing to move Norris to the bullpen and see what he can do as a setup/closer type.

You certainly don't add an old veteran to take innings away from Harrell/Humber/Peacock.

Borbon would be a good move for us, but who does he replace? Barnes hasn't even gotten much of a chance and has looked decent. Do we send JD back down? Ankiel gone?

I really believe they're going to trade Norris before the deadline, maybe even in the next month. Moving him to the bullpen would be terrible for his trade value.

Getting a guy like Harang could be beneficial once the deadline approaches. The Dodgers are paying $4.5 million of his $7 million salary, so he may be attractive to some teams looking for a guy that can pitch out of the back of the rotation down the stretch. If nothing else, he bridges the gap until we can get some of the younger guys to the show.

Pena and Ankiel are well on their way to being cut, wallace has been terrible, and our bullpen is a disaster. IMO, we have plenty of roster flexibility to make some moves.

While I agree that Pena and Ankiel have been god awful I don't think they get cut. Lunhow and Porter are big fans of their veteran leadership. If the rest of the lineup was tearing the cover off the ball and they were sucking it would be different but these guys aren't what's hindering the team. Plus as veterans they have earned a little bit of a right to dig themselves out of the slump.

This remark makes no sense at all. You’re not going to cut someone for what they did the past three years.

All I’m saying is that they’re bad players on a bad team that bring a little veteran experience. If it wasn't for them being veterans they probably wouldn't have been brought in here in the first place.

Lunhow isn't dumb enough to bring those guys in thinking they’re going to bolster the lineup.

He is also not dumb enough to let some veterans with track records of being below the mendoza line stay in the lineup JUST for leadership, when players like Bud, Barnes, Cedeno, Maxwell, Humber, and Bedard are not far behind in age and can also provide leadership.

I remember hearing them say that the reason they brought in Pena was for his experience with playing on a young team and they were asking him to take the reigns as the veteran.

Your missing the point...He's not going to cut them based on their track records. No GM in the history of any sport has cut a player based on what they've done the past couple years.

Give them some time to come out of it and if they dont and you see you have players behind them then make a move.

Plus I'd like to see them come out of it and show some value and see Lunhow try and flip them.

IMO, neither Pena nor Ankiel will be on this team in September. They'll both either be traded or cut. At some point this season, it's all going to be about the young guys. That time comes sooner if we're sitting here in a month with two black holes in the lineup where Pena and Ankiel are penciled in. Sure, you don't make that move in March or April, but it has to be a serious consideration in May.

Agree 100%. If Pena and Ankiel are playing like this come May, get rid of them. I'm also very upset that we let Frieman go so we can have room for a washed up player like Pena at 1B/DH. That is a move that Drayton McLane would have made...

Did we do it wrong?

This lineup could exist today.. none of the moves we made would have had any effect on anyone listed below. All of the proceeds from the guys we traded are either in the minors or gone..
