"I am currently in the process of taking legal action against Jack Clark and his employers at WGNU 920AM," Pujols said in a statement released Friday. "I am going to send a message that you cannot act in a reckless manner, like they have, and get away with it. If I have to be the athlete to carry the torch and pave the way for other innocent players to see that you can do something about it, I am proud to be that person. I have five young children and I take being a role model very seriously. The last thing I want is for the fans, and especially the kids out there, to question my reputation and character."

"I've said time and time again that I would never take, or even consider taking, anything illegal," Pujols said in the statement. "I've been tested hundreds of times throughout my career and never once have I tested positive. It is irresponsible and reckless for Jack Clark to have falsely accused me of using PED's. My faith in Jesus Christ, and my respect for this game are too important to me. I would never be able to look my wife or kids in the eye if I had done what this man is accusing me of.

"I know people are tired of athletes saying they are innocent, asking for the public to believe in them, only to have their sins exposed later down the road. But I am not one of those athletes, and I will not stand to have my name and my family's name, dragged through the mud."

Cause that is what I've said.

I HAVE accused Pujols of juicing... and IF he is truly innocent... then he TRULY is pursuing legal action.

Rest assured... if he DOESN'T pursue legal action, even though he has declared he has, then you can have further confidence, that he is guilty.

- See Armstrong
- See Bonds
- See ARod

Who am I missing?

Feign swings of charges... LOL...

You can also rest assured that he WON'T pursue the legal route, as he will expose himself to discovery that will certainly prove his guilt.

Let's get Chris Mihlfeld on the stand under oath and see how this whole thing goes. You think Pujols wants McGwire, Clark, LaRussa speaking under oath?

As a Christian man, myself... who has counseled many a Christian man... when they invoke the name of Jesus as their validation for integrity... it is a pretty good sign they are guilty.

"But I am a Christian, how could I be guilty of such things."

If you notice how he parses words:

quote:
"I've said time and time again that I would never take, or even consider taking, anything illegal,"

Not a specific denial of PEDs, just everything illegal. Really? HGH by prescription isn't illegal, and until this year, was never tested for in MLB. Cocaine - Illegal... Steroids, while banned by MLB, technically, are they illegal?

quote:
"I've been tested hundreds of times throughout my career and never once have I tested positive.

See Lance Armstrong and A-Rod and Barry Bonds... oh and Braun

Braun can still stand by the "I've never tested positive," right?

quote:

It is irresponsible and reckless for Jack Clark to have falsely accused me of using PED's.

If false... yes, irresponsible and reckless. Let's see how far he pursues this. He has the whole rest of this season and the off season to pursue without distraction.
quote:
I would never be able to look my wife or kids in the eye if I had done what this man is accusing me of.

Maybe I'm just too cynical... he just sounds a lot like A-Rod... and if you think Anaheim\California\LAAA wouldn't love to be relieved of THAT contract, like the NYY and A-Rod... we'll see how much they defend him.

Sad. But, just another page in the chapter of PEDs in MLB. We'll see how long the charade lasts.

"News broke yesterday that Jack Clark called out Albert Pujols for PEDs on his radio show. Then, later in the day, Albert Pujols indicated that he would sue Clark. Now Clark and his co-host have been fired."

Sounds like Albert means business.

is there such a thing as a personal trainer in the decade of the 90's and first half 00's that wasn't involved somehow with steroids? That was the thing to give or recommend to your client for him or her to compete at the highest level

Legally, does Pujols have a play?

From my layman's point of view, it'd be hard to prove malice and damages.

If he doesn't actually have a legal case, is this a good tactic? "I'm so innocent that I would sue if I could (but, since I can't, there won't be any testimony)."

He better be clean. If he sues and is not then it will come out in the discovery phase. And if it is there then it will be found.

I think he is clean. If I was not guilty I would respond in a similar fashion. Not wait a week for my lawyer to tell me how to respond. Jff

This thread made me giggle.

I think we've established that declaring your innocence doesn't mean your innocent. I'm not sure it should be taken as a sign of your guilt, but to each their own.

And to answer your question, I think anabolic steroids are Schedule III drugs.

That pretty much means they need a prescription, which I imagine many athletes didn't acquire (within the spirit of the law, at least), and have some refill restrictions- which is what gave Congress its "in" to hold all those hearings.

Edit- Cocaine is Schedule II. Its technically not a purely "illegal" drug. Its a prescription drug. It has stricter prescription requirements than Schedule III, and I believe no refills are allowed.

Seems that so far...pretty much everywhere there has been smoke, there has been fire. Canseco told his story and everyone laughed ... at first. Then Balco then Braun bigenisis... Now Pujols. Remember everyone is still passing piss tests so players know they are ahead of the curve!!!!

Adderall is also a schedule II.
