Game four of the World Series drew 16.0 million viewers (10.5 overnight rating) according to Major League Baseball, the largest audience yet among the four games. The Packers and Vikings, a game between two of the NFL's more popular teams, drew an overnight rating of 10.3 according to SportsMediaWatch.com.

Finally broke a 10 rating. Guessing tonight is a good number.

I see MNF putting a dent in WS ratings nationally just because of the number of people who will watch any NFL game. That having been said, it would be interesting to see an NFL game where the home team's local TV rating is below the national average for that game.

According to The Nielsen Co., baseball blasted football by more than a 4-1 rate. Game 5 of the World Series, on KTVI (Channel 2), was seen in 43.8 percent of homes in the area with a TV. The “MNF’’ telecast, which was on ESPN and KPLR (Channel 11) drew a combined 10.9 rating.

On the big stage, Fox’s telecast of the ballgame beat ESPN’s football telecast by a significant margin nationally. Nielsen says baseball was seen in 8.9 percent of the nation’s homes with a TV and attracted 14.4 million viewers, while football pulled a 6.7 rating and 10.8 million viewers.

And in the head-to-head matchup between the cities competing, St. Louis has beaten Boston in the ratings for every contest other than the opener. The number for St. Louis now stands at 41.7, the rating in Boston is 36.5.

The 43.8 rating in St. Louis for Game 5 was actually down from a 46.7 rating for Game 4.

World Series TV Ratings Jump 17%

The World Series averaged roughly 14.9 million viewers, according to Nielsen data. That marks a big comeback for baseball after record low ratings last year, when the San Francisco Giants swept the Detroit Tigers.

The Red Sox clinched the World Series with a victory in Game 6, the most-watched MLB game in two years with 19.2 million viewers.

For the entire month of postseason baseball, viewership surged 20% across FOX, TBS and MLB Network, the best year-over-year increase since 2009.

The 2013 season was the first big-game ratings sweep for the league since 2001. Viewership increased for every round of the postseason, in addition to the All-Star Game.

Somewhat predicitably ***eyeroll*** baseball's demise and stupidity was greatly exaggerated.

That said, I wouldn't have minded seeing the ratings had they not conflicted with so many other sporting events.

Not sure what MLB can do other than move the WS to August or play in the early AM hours to avoid such conflicts.
