Just look at the numbers. Goldy was the best O player in the NL, He also is an excellent D player, He steals bases, He went to Rice and he had twice the RBI's of the other two.

He was easily the only legit choice, it was a joke just like when JFF doesn't win the Heisman.

The only number in his favor seems to be that hit more home runs. Two, I suppose, walks, but McCutchen still had the higher OBP.

Maybe those home runs are enough to put him over the top, but that is not obvious, IMO.

Did you check RBI's or Runs scored? Did you check game winning hits?

Goldschmidt is a marginally better hitter with a wOBA of .404 while McCutchen has a .391.

Both are good fielders (McCutchen is marginally better) with 5 UZR for Goldscmidt and while McCutchen had a 7 UZR. The difference is that center field is harder position to play AND a rarer position to find a good batter at. That's why the rightful person won.

The true atrocity comes when Trout is robbed again by Cabrera.
