Nothing pisses me off more than a newspaper column that is little more than an opus to how enlightened the writer is, and how other people should agree with him or be considered a Philistine.

Literally my favorite logo in all of Sports and I'm not even an Indians fan.

The word you are looking for here is editorial.

That's why I didn't call it an article. Either way, it's not news. It's "the voice of the newspaper," and as such, carries some weight. I'd like less, "this is what I think should happen," and more "this is what did happen."

Its undeniably a cartoon caricature of stereotypes about a pretty large group of people.

In a country where blackface gets you in the national headlines, its interesting that redface is still so acceptable.

I reckon that dichotomy is a consequence of Thanksgiving and 2nd grade arts and craft classes.

Anyways, I'm not an advocate for the tribes. What do they think? They should probably make the decision.

"Should have" is not the same thing as "should."

Of course, I think you know as well as the rest of thus that's not really how the world works, and I'd be willing to bet most folks would acknowledge sometimes it appropriate to not do something you may "want" to do so other's don't "have to deal with it."

When so many Indian tribes have come out in support of it, why should it change? Again no one is crying foul against the celtics or notre dame.

Because the VAST majority of responses to this are of the faux outrage variety driven by ********s like Bob Costas. That's why the 'when' matters.

No schtick. What was done to the Irish pales in comparison to what was done to the American Indian and you can start up a movement to end the use of the Celtic/Fighting Irish if you like. It doesn't have to be an all or nothing game here.

I couldn't care less about what a team's name is, regardless if it's Fighting Irish or Redskins. It's a team name, who cares?
