And maybe issue is the wrong word. How about lynchpin?

You're still arguing that it's alright to ignore the rule because the Marlins suck.

Show me where I said it was alright?

I've never said that they are right for what they did.

However, if a team needs to use the visiting club to satisfy their fans, their problems are MUCH bigger than the opponent.

Yes, the Red Sox broke the rule. No, I'm not excusing it.

While we are in fact-based mode. Also mentioned 2-3X that the Red Sox apologized for breaking the rule. And who knows, my "fact-based" post may have even been biased to your side of the argument, kid, since maybe they didn't break the rule after all.

Some of us just don't think the Marlins are above ridicule when it comes to complaints about teams intentionally downgrading the competitive quality of their own roster.

I just went off of the original story, a Red Sox fan copying from a pro-Sox source, basically stipulating that they ignored the guideline.

Sigh...

The offseason sucks. Spring training is nice, but not a substitute for the real thing.

Can we at least agree that the Marlins are the worst franchise in the majors?

And that the Red Sox are a bunch of dewshes?

Pitchers don't count towards the 4 players.

Boston broke the rules. The witty retort from Red Sox front office was nice, but they didn't live up to their end of the bargain.

Marlins are still turds.

Why don't pitchers count towards the 4 player rule? Where are you seeing this?

Sure.

It also means they have (should) to do everything they can, and that includes making sure teams bring their players to the ballpark.

And no, the Marlins don't "clearly do nothing to improve their position."

Another irony of this conversation is the Marlins were a competitive bunch for a long time. Overshadowed, but competitive. It was about when doubled their payroll to over $100 million that they really faltered.

I wish they weren't inept at spending the cash they spent. I also wish they didn't dump it all like they did (of course, that's called "good business" other places when the team loses 100 games).

Anyways, yep, the situation got ****ty in Miami. They still have every right to file a complaint without Henry- who spent near-historically low amounts of money on the team when he owned them- getting butthurt about it.

It's in how you read the quote with the rule.
"Each of those regulars, excluding pitchers, must play a minimum of three complete innings."

I think it says, bring 4 regular players and they have to play at least 3 innings unless they're pitchers.

It could be read as, bring 4 regular players and they have to play at least 3 innings; pitchers are excluded from this definition of regulars.

Tell you what... what is the over/under for wins this year? 70? 75?

I've got a second to the motion that the Red Sox are dewshes.

All those in favor say "Aye"

AYE.

All those not in favor say "nay"

The "ayes" have it. The motion carries.
