Moreland had a helluva game. Fell bad for bad mouthing him earlier.

Whatever works right? Hopefully this is what he needed to wake up.

it's nice to have a lead off man actually get on base, rather than pop up or ground out on the 1st pitch!

Moreland has been great since

Now if he'd just get Elvis out of the damn 2 hole.

I think Martin could be a pretty good 2 hole hitter.

Problem with that is that it gives you three lefties at the top of you're lineup. I think they'll leave him where he's at, besides, he's great to have down there when you turnover the lineup.

As for Moreland, he's a streaky hitter. He started to heat up some last year before his injury. He had trouble getting going once he finally came back though.

Kinsler went 3-5 last night with a walk-off single.

I hated the pop-up sh*t too but Kinsler is still pretty dang good

Good hitter I'll concede, good second baseman, not a chance

Kinsler may be the all-time greatest in April, it's just those other 6-7 months...

What is he going to do if he opts out? Pitch for the Home Depot plumbing section? I think you leave him there until he shows he's capable, opt out or not. That said, it wont take much to show he's more capable than their other options, so I think he'll be up shortly.

I'm just hoping we get the 2010-2011 version and not the 2002-2003 version

Rotation status... this is what is listed on ESPN's site:

Fri: Saunders (@TB)
Sat: Martinez (@TB)

*Darvish (@TB)
Scheppers
*Perez
Ross
4/11 Lewis

*Darvish
Sheppers
*Perez
Ross

Some thoughts:
Nick Martinez - With Darvish's return... I'm glad they will still allow him to get a GS. I loved how they told him he made the rotation... it was a tremendous moment, and to have been replaced before actually pitching would have been a tremendous disappointment. And that is to me the fan. Can't imagine his family. My guess is, after his start he is DFA and replaced with Darvish on the roster. I'm sure there will likely be a huge family celebration after the game.

If Lewis has an Opt-Out on 4/10... it would explain why ESPN has him listed as the starter on 4/11. They'll activate him on 4/10 and give him a shot in the rotation. That would align with his current schedule.

What happens to Saunders? If we roll with:
Darvish
Scheppers
Perez
Ross
Lewis

I'm good. Does Saunders become a 6th guy in the rotation. I like that Saunders pitches in TB. That could only help his performance. If Darvish, Saunders and Lewis all do well... do you shop Saunders to trade him? Or move Scheppers to the BP if he struggles again?

Harrison starts tonight in Frisco. Go see him if you can. Assuming he does well with no pain... he will likely return in about 3 weeks.

What to do?

I'd like to see Saunders remain in a 6 man and shopped, assuming all goes well with Harrison tonight.

I'm not talking about a huge return... I just think with as many injuries as teams have seen this season... if he gets 2-3 QSs to begin the season... he'd have a trade value to get a warm AA or A+ body. Maybe someone looking at a Rule V.

A PTBNL or Rosin was a Rule V (Owned by Philly via LAD), IIRC. I don't think Philly would be interested... but you never know in 2 weeks.

Ignoring that there's very little chance Saunders gets 2-3 starts, much less quality ones, if a team needed an arm and contract like his they would have signed him 3 weeks ago -- they aren't going to trade prospects to take on his salary now.

Hayden is pissed that the sky hasn't fallen yet despite the injuries.

Teams wouldn't trade a six-pack of Natty Light for him.

IIRC, he signed for like $500K.

It was why they cut Hanson ($1.2M) instead of Saunders.
