Is it worth it?

Not if you're using a playstation to watch it. I lve had so much trouble this season with the app. Love it on my iPad though. Just depends on how many out of market games you're interested in.

When it says that I can watch whichever feed I want, does that mean that I could watch NESN's broadcasters for Red Sox games? They are the local broadcast crew for the Red Sox.

And I'm using my 360/iphone for travel etc.

If you're not in the local area, local being you get NESN and the Sox games aren't blacked out, then yes you can get NESN. I'm in Houston and watch NESN through MLBTV every game but being in Texas I can't watch Astros/Rangers games

I am excited to give this a shot tonight!

mazag08 may have different experiences, but I think you'll find that the proxy stuff for MLB.tv becomes so hit or miss that it's not worth it if you want something reliable.

Considering there arent really any other options, and other than a couple times of it freezing up, its a decent option. I always buy MLB.TV anyway so I can have baseball on as much as possible.

Can you use the proxy on the ps3? I too would like to be able to watch rangers/Astros games without waiting for the 90 minute cool down period

Unless there's a way you can manually input a proxy, I doubt it.

I've had it for the last 3/4 years and love it... Apparentky this year it's had some hiccups because some of the team who works on it have been working on the replay system but I love the iPad app and use it nightly for Astros/rangers games since I'm out of state and will watch west coast games at night too if I'm up

Yes. It would make it where you are able to watch what would usually be blacked out games. Rangers and Astros.

unblock-us is great. you can add the DNS servers to your router really easily, or add them just to the apple TV if you don't want your whole network going through their servers.

I use unblock-us. It is fantastic. I just set it up on my xbox so they don't see all the porn I watch.

I put MLB tv on my Xbox. At first it was very spotty. My Xbox was using the wireless router. I direct wired it to the modem and the service is significantly better although it still had some lag time.

However, all in all, it is a HUGE win!

As for the local access stuff, I don't really need it as there are only 6 more games this season that will be subject to blackout and I fully expect to go to at least 3 of them.

Not that I really care, but why do they mute or blackout the sideline reporters? And it's not everytime either it's like whenever they remember.

Just a guess:

The content of the game and broadcast rights are owned by the MLB. The studio breaks and sideline reports are owned by the individual stations.

Because it is stupid enough a reason. it seems rational, in my mind.

actually the games in boston against the O's will be blacked out for you online as well, since you're in their viewing area. So the games will be on local tv.

I've been thinking about getting MLB TV for the house here in College Station. I'm a Cubs fan but the rest of my roommates are Astro fans. Would we still be considered local and not get the Astro games? I'm not very familiar with the blackout rules.

Yes, the entire state of Texas and some of Louisiana is considered a Houston market. But it doesnt have to stop you. If you use chrome, download the extension switchysharp and input an ip adress and port number (usually found by searching "free proxy list." This will trick MLBTV into thinking you are an out or market viewer. Also, dont put an adress in your MLBTV profile. Dont pick a favorite team.. and if you do, dont pick a Texas team.

You can also use the website unblock us.

I watch every Astros game using switch sharp. Sometimes the proxy Im using will get a little choppy, but its better than nothing. Most of the time my MLBTV is crystal clear.

Thanks mazag. Just curious, will that work on bluray players also? That's where we would be using it the majority of the time.

No. I havent tried, but I seriously doubt it. Just do it on your computer and run an HDMI cable to your TV.

When I first registered for the week free trial I was only able to complete the 1st of the 3 registration steps; is that because it was the free trial?

I will have to go back online today to their site and sign up for the $monthly fee....if it will work like the trial did, it will be worth it.

On a related note, I use my MLB subscription to watch games on my parents Apple TV at their house (also in an area that blacks out Astros games) but I couldn't get the unblock-us free trial to work at their house on their apple tv. It would never allow the different video feeds for each game. Only a 'Feed Slection' and below that was o- and below that was an 'OK' box with a blue ring around it.

Did you follow ALL the steps for unblock-us? Did you green light the IP address which you were broadcasting from?

I use unblockus for MLBtv. Not on an appletv, but it works on the boxes I use.

I will say this, when I first signed up for it, the service was absolute garbage on my Xbox. The streaming would stop over and over. It has markedly improved since then!
