I know a lot of Astros fans are probably in hiding right now, but is anyone else excited about George Springer getting called-up today? I know the chances of him making a direct impact this early on are slim, but I'm still excited that he'll be getting major league experience.

Slim?

Dude is unquestionably the best player on our team, he just needs to hit .200 to do that

None of us are excited. Call up Austin Wastes and then I'll get excited.

In hiding? 14 games into the season, there's already a 24-page thread on the Astros; the last 2 pages of which are excitement over the Springer call-up. Come on over and join us!

I'm excited but I wish I could see the damn games on tv. Gamecast on my phone is all I've got.

I keep telling a buddy in Houston that the Astros need to have a package of prospects ready at trade deadline and make an offer for David Price. Frontline guy to teach all the young guys..... You cant have a bottom basement payroll forever!!

why in the hell would we want an almost 29 year old pitcher to come, Rob us of all of our future stars while we're still years away from truly competing

I feel like the Astros aren't going to trade away any of their prospects. I can see them waiting a couple years once they start wining to go after a couple big name players in free agency.

Which prospects are you going to give up for him? I'm no Astros fan, but they're doing this the right way it seems. The farm system is stacked. They have young hitting and pitching talent under cheap contracts.

You go all out for a Price when you have a shot at the playoffs. Not when you are just trying to avoid losing 100 games for the 4th straight season.

They absolutely must try to get everyone in their system to pan out. It's the cheapest path to success. Once they have a solid core of successful young players at the major league level they can start moving a few prospects in an attempt to land a couple of guys to push them over the top
