Couple stories from the broadcast during the game.

Apparently when asked... Wash said that Odor and Sardinas are every bit as good as Profar... that Profar brings "that certain something" and has the presence... the way he carries himself... but that Odor and Sardinas are as talented.

That was encouraging.

I think it was Harold Reynolds who told the story of Wash meeting Nick Martinez for the 1st time.

Martinez was not in Big Camp, but one game he was invted along as a pitcher designated "just in case." One of those pitchers in ST that you bring along, "just in case" you run out of pitchers or need someone to pitch.

Well, Wash was apparently on the mound when Martinez entered the game... Wash asked, "And who are you?" To which was replied, "I'm Nick Martinez." Wash replied, "Very good."

As Wash walked off the mound, he looked over to the the Ump and said... "That's Nick Martinez. He is my pitcher."

I had never heard of Martinez before this season. You have to be impressed with how the kid has seized his opportunity. With every outing, he looks more and more like the real deal.

You probably never heard of him, because he was drafted as a middle IF out of FU (Fordham).

Like many players in the Rangers organization (Ogando, West), converting to Pitcher has proven a successful transition.

I've been traveling the past few weeks... has TAG rejoined the broadcast? He isn't there tonight and last I hear he was taking PTO to start a road trip... haven't seen him since.

Apparently they announced in December that he would be taking 25 games off during the season and McLemore would be in the booth.

Haha, sounds like Kinslers old teammates weren't real impressed with his wave at their dugout after his two run shot. The guy has always been a ******, which is OK when he is on your team, but I wouldn't mind seeing one of the Ranger pitchers put one in his ribs tomorrow.

Man, Saunders sucks. In reality, the whole team looks like they are just going through the motions at this point.

Tonight has been like the Rangers of the early 2000's... Get behind, score some runs, give some right back the next frame, score some runs again, give some right back the next frame.

At least it's a bit more exciting than 4-run-deficit-game-is-over.

I've always hated how baseball players get so up in arms over the dumbest sh*t. I understand the game and I know there are a ton of unwritten rules that they are expected to follow, but it's really kind of ridiculous.

I agree that the unwritten rules are pretty ridiculous, but that level of taunting would be a pretty big deal in any sport. If a football player had a free run to the end zone and waved at the opposing bench, the reaction would be about the same.

Last night was kind of a fun game to watch at least.

If a player dives into the endzone in celebration (in college I believe), then it is a penalty... no touchdown.

What was so disappointing for Rangers about Kinsler... is that many of the players in the dugout, including Colby... still considered Ian a friend.

It wasn't so much his gesture... or his taunting... any unwritten rule... it was that he didn't have to kick them while they're down.

His reception, AFAIK, by fans was pretty cordial, even after his comments. But, like CJ and Hamilton... he just can't help himself being a ******.

I really doubt any of the Rangers who he's actually still friends with gave a ****.

If you watched the post game interview with Colby it seemed like he gave a ****. He seemed genuinely upset that his supposed buddy acted that way. That being said, anybody that has watched Kins play over the years shouldn't be too surprised, he has always been kind of a ******.

Wash seemed to care. Wash said in the old days, Kinz would have been plunked.

Saunders came high and tight on a 4 pitch walk. Being a LHP makes it difficult to hit Kinz.

We'll see if Nick Martinez is an OSB. Something tells me Kinz gets plunked.

I'm not one to plunk anybody for just anything. I don't even care if you pimp a homerun. But I would plunk Kins tonight. When a guy bad mouthed your team in the offseason comes into your stadium and shows up your team, that's the only option you have. You can't just sit on your hands and do nothing.

The team has lost 7 in a row, 12 games out of first place. They need a spark. Maybe this could provide that. Clear the benches for all I care.

And as for the unwritten rules, that's what I like about baseball. Yeah it might seem like a bunch of little stuff that shouldn't matter, but this creates an environment where guys respect the game and the opponent moreso than in the other sports. This is partially because the beanball tactic. It's your ace in the hole.

Did Colby and Ian do a lot of hanging out when they were both Rangers that I missed?

My guess is... somewhere near 162 days they were hanging out in the dugout... Add a few weeks for Spring Training.

Four years together...

My guess is while they may not have shagged... they probably had a better working relationship than over 50% of couples who get married these days.

Well in that case Vicente Padilla must have been a groomsman in Mark Texeira's wedding with them being such good buds.
