I follow the Rangers and completely agree with you.

How's the room on the Astro's bandwagon?

It is getting pretty crowded over there. That win streak really brought in some diversity

This better be the last time we see sardinas at ss. Didn't even try for that ball.

Guess they decided to make beltre their PED guy this year

I understand the splits, but give me Odor over Elvis in that situation.

Friggin a Choo has sucked at the plate lately. A sac bunt would've been a safe play there Wash.

This team is donzo. They need to sell at the deadline and get what they can for Beltre, Andrus or both. Time to rebuild this line up and get some pitching.

Sucks when the offense and defense can't get it together on the same day.

I don't understand the talk around shopping Beltre. They got him because they were willing to take on those older years and higher salary. I think Beltre has been better than most expected for the Rangers, but you'd have to send a ton of cash with him to get anything. I think Rios is the only established MLB player you should be shopping if the team is 3-5 games back from the wildcard at the trade deadline, no sense in hanging on to Rios and you should try to get something (anything) for him. I can't think of anyone else who's coming close to the end of their deal.

Actually, if you really think this team is in rebuilding mode (which I don't), the player who it makes the most sense to shop is Darvish. Extremely favorable contract and realistically only two years left on his deal before he gets $28 - $30 million a year. You wouldn't have to throw in any cash or other pieces and you could get whatever you wanted in return.

Jesus... It was painful to type this.

Again, even if this season is in the tank, I don't think the Rangers are in rebuilding mode by any stretch.

Beltre is the face of the franchise and still producing at a position that the Rangers don't yet have a prospect ready to go on the MLB level. The hope is Gallo can one day be the guy, but he's another year away.

Shortstop on the other hand... It would be selling low on what was a pretty bad contract, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Elvis get shopped.

Darvish has the most value by far, but you only consider trading an ace if you are in a true rebuild and can only think to be a playoff contender 3 years down the road. Texas will be a playoff contender next year.

It all comes down to health. Texas needs to now go out there an add at least one bonafide starter in the offseason to replace the losses of Perez and Harrison (which I think has been incredibly discounted by a lot of the local and national media -- a team loses it's #2 and #3 starters for the season in a matter of days).

Rebuild and waste Darvish and Beltre and (hopefully) Fielder in their productive years, or go out and find a DH and a starter and be a contender? I vote the latter.

Since Cruz only has a 1 year deal with the O's how about bringing him back to DH?

Nope. We gomna lock him up.

Hopefully.

Highly doubt Duke extends him.

I don't think the market will be worth it for Cruz.

He'll turn 35 during the 2015 season, and that's a guy that already typically misses 30-40 games a year due to injury.

Doesn't really fit into the mold of guys that Texas will unlock the coffers for.

This will be a very interesting offseason for Cruz. I was pretty surprised by his lack of offers this offseason, but I don't know if it was age related or PED related.

It was a combination. I think he is a prefect fit in Baltimore. We've needed a good LF or DH bat for a few years now. This gives us both and Lough is only going to get better. I think it'd be stupid to not try to keep him. But it he wants to cash in on this big (which he probably will) I don't see the O's getting in a bidding war. He will be a Yankee next year

Why? You'll just end up trading them away or watch as another team out bids you for them.

So there was a time, when I wanted the Orioles SP - 1992!
:Mussina (23), McDonald (24), Rhodes (22) and what staff is not complete without Rick Sutcliffe!

Cruz is making $6M less than the Rangers offered him.

Some names you may appreciate that are former Rangers... Buck Showalter?!

The Rangers have traded off a tremendous amount of talent... a thread I started a few weeks ago... but with 17 +/- DL stints and practically our entire starting rotation going down (sans Yu), we are still a .500 team with HUGE upside.

I'm cool with that.

I've always been a Colby Lewis fan and appreciate what he's done for this franchise, but it's pretty clear the dude doesn't have it anymore. I realize he's coming back from an injury and is 34 years old, but last night was his 10th start of the season and he's yet to have a quality start. He was supposed to be the number 5 starter going into the season, but 3 of his last 4 starts he's gone less than 6 innings and gave up 5 runs. With our offense continually struggling, we just can't keep running him out there. I really don't know if we have any other options at this point with all the injuries, at least until Derek Holland comes back next month, but I think it's time the Rangers move on.

I've been concerned about Colby... last night I wanted them to pull him after the 4th... but that is hard for a manager to do with the lead.

Here is his ERA by inning:
3.60 - 1st
3.60 - 2nd
5.40 - 3rd
10.24 - 4th
4.00 - 5th
10.38 - 6th

In some cases with young pitchers, or pitchers who are not accomplished... you realize the issue is 3rd time through the order. That was Tepesch's issue last year. He showed the hitters all that he had, and didn't have anything else to show them.

For Colby... I think it is that he tires. I haven't examined his pitches... but I think he tires and his pitches, while maybe not losing velocity... are coming in much flatter.

I don't know that you can make him a long-man out of the BP. One more bad outing and I tell him he is getting 3-4 innings and while he may not qualify for the W... that is all he gets.

Not sure who else we have.

Saunders is always on the ropes.
Martinez (23) may have been scouted and figured out. His last 2 outings have been concerning.
Tepesch (25) only had 2 IP in his last outing before having to get replaced.

Now that the draft is moving along... we can probably look at players like Kendrys... but that doesn't help our pitching.

I think Colby may just have to keep trotting out there.

Question for folks in TX, what network is 'TXA-21'? Never heard of it.

Missed it, but that's OK. Just glad to have the game. My main Fox feed has a freakin 1984 OU game on.
