That isn't what he told EA.

He basically affirmed he grooved them.

He said tonight was all about Jeter.

He didn't mean to take anything away from him.

He NEVER said he didn't groove them.

He did say he wanted to compete. He said that he said yesterday he indicated he didn't want Jeter to get a hit.

He also said he didn't want him to hit a HR, then he made light of it about MC's HR. IIRC, he alluded to the fact he wouldn't have done it, if he thought Jeter would get a double.

This will be hashed plenty by morning and I think his interview with EA will open him up to great criticism.

Wainwright was channelling his inner Chan Ho Park (re: Cal Ripken Jr). All part of what's wrong the all-star game. It's become more of a tribute to 1 or 2 players than an actual game. Thank goodness there are no more yankee legends retiring for a while -- in face quite a while

Not a big deal. The game is a boring tribute-fest. Not like it means anything like homefield in the World Series...
