Curious since I picked up 2 large boxes of cards from my childhood. Granted most of these cards are from the 90s when many guys were suspected PED users, but are top player cards ever worth much? Where would I even go to figure out any kind of value?

They're worth whatever someone is willing to pay, which is basically nothing. Keep them and give them to your grandkids one day, or make a cool table top out of them, or just stick them in your bicycle wheels

They make excellent fire starters. So take that 92 Fleer set you have saved up thinking it would help fund your dream retirement and take it with you camping to get the fire going. Nothing like watching a rookie card of some guy that never made it past AA ball go up in flames!

Umm, you have to make it to the big leagues to have a rookie card.

Used to be way into buying/trading cards before I turned 21 and started using that money for my beer hobby/habit.

If we're talking early 90's... Yea, fire starters for the most part. This is when cards were produced by the millions. There's a few in there worth something, but they are few and far between. Mid to late 90's and you start getting into more limited inserts, so there could be some value there.

More recent cards have serial numbering, autos, game used pieces, etc., so they can be worth a decent amount more. There is also something called "prospecting", but I digress.

Best thing to do is to go to eBay completed sales. That'll give you the best idea of value.

I remember when I thought my A-Rod rookie card was worth a ton. And look how that went

So my wife is right when she complains that my '92 and '93 factory sealed upper deck complete sets are a waste of space in our extra bedroom closet?

I hope you're no trying to say that a players minor league card is in any way considered a rookie card.

There are tons of cards out there (and no, not minor league cards) of guys that were 1st round picks, future stars, etc... that never ever set foot on a major league field during a major league game.
