Talk of prospects, September call-ups, hopefuls for next season, etc.

Mikolas now has two out of three decent starts.

I got to see Frisco play in San Antonio last night. Gallo looks like a giant. He hasn't even completely filled out yet. He hit a pop fly that almost went out opposite field.

Andrew Faulkner looks good. He's a lefty that throws fairly hard.

Kela is their closer. He topped out at 99mph. I could be completely wrong, but I didn't a lot of movement on his fastball. Looked good though.

They should have traded Jerome Williams, like I said, before he lost all value.

I hope Mikolas can pitch well enough to make the rotation... I hope the Rangers are NOT in a position to need him in the rotation.

We've gotta have Fielder and Holland back healthy.

Colby looks to be a possible necessity for 2015.

Keep an eye on Luke Jackson. Although I'm hearing him being projected as either a #5 or Middle Reliever.

I like what I've seen with Mendez and Feliz. Gotta get the walks down on both.

Cotts still doing fine.

2015, IMO, will come down to Fielder, Holland and a FA SP signing. Profar could be a bit of a wildcard.

Carp is a waiver claim, no trade involved.

Is A.J. Preller a Padre now? Sounds like it.

Preller gone. The team wins 16-0 and still takes a horrible loss.

Mendez looking good.

With Feliz... that's like... 2 RPs for 2015.

Just watched Feldman K back to back guys on sliders in the dirt. One pitch like that to Berkman and we'd have a title...will always be sad until someday they surprise me like the 2011 Mavs.

Rangers exporting their DL woes...

Soria to DL

David Murphy to DL

I guess we ran out of MLB players to go to the DL, so former Rangers must do...

I predict CJ Wilson will be on the DL by the end of August. He has a June ERA 5.97, July ERA 10.13 and August ERA of 12.86. Doing what he can for the playoff run.

Hamilton likely a candidate for the DL - June BA .268\1HR, July BA .257\3HRs and an August BA .158\2HR. The August sun is just brutal for guys with blue eyes.

If former Rangers are now heading to the DL, the Orioles better start making plans quick.

Wash is just drawing his lineup out of a hat. He's got Beltre and Rios available, and Mike Carp is hitting 3rd with his .186 and 0 HR's in 50 games. This season may be lost due to injury, but the cokehead in charge still needs to go.

"The Dodgers have acquired right-hander Justin Germano from the Rangers for future considerations, Rangers executive vice president of communications John Blake announces (on Twitter). Germano has been added to the Triple-A Albuquerque roster to begin his tenure with the organization."

He's the first baseman and third in the order is reserved for that position! Fielder did it, Moreland did it, and that's the way baseball go. /Wash

And Feliz is still scared sh*tless of Pujols. Walks him on 4 pitches.

Tepesch walked 4 today, but went 7 and gave up 2 ER.

His 4.15 ERA puts him at 35th in AL ERA.

He has 86.2 IP and last year he had 93, with a 4.84 ERA. Outside of July, he has a 3.16 ERA. Take out his game in Toronto, and he looks very effective.

At 25, he is quickly becoming who is ... hopefully a sub 4.00 ERA in 2015...

He did clear waivers, so nobody (including Boston) put in the claim.
Fenrir

Well he is on the DL so it makes sense that nobody would claim him. I'd be skeptical of an elbow injury if I were another team.

Yeah, no one was willing to take the risk of claiming him and risk finding out he needs TJS (although it doesn't sound like that is the case), which would basically make him useless for about half of his remaining contract term. Not to mention, he'd be of very questionable use in the current pennant race.

Not trying to hijack this into an Anti-Wash thread , but one of the many things I have never understood about him is the way he uses his subs in the lineup.

I can't recall certain examples off hand, but if he has a player like Fielder playing 1B at #3, then he feels like whoever subs for Fielder has to bat #3

Just like the way Carp is hitting 3 with his sub 200 avg. I'm pretty sure at one point he was using Sardinas at #1 or #2 just because he was subbing for Andrus.

I understand trying to keep others in their preferred spot, but Wash just goes extreme. He is a joke, and the major loss of this season is that he is getting a free pass for this season due to the injuries and rightfully so.

ahaldjfadkf it would all be so much easier to swallow if they had just won game 6

yeah, it's too much for Wash's brain to realize that things already changed for the other guys when you plugged a .180 with zero power guy into the 3 spot. Having the rest of the lineup hit in the same spot doesn't magically preserve continuity - you already lost the continuity when you plugged garbage into what might be the most key spot in the lineup. Having a black-fugging-hole (sorry, John Wiley Price) hitting 3rd is as disruptive as it gets.

At least you are transparent about your hatred to Wash. As valid or not that it is... we go through this throughout the season, and it is always the same. Some guys just hate Wash and that is ok.

Clearly willing to move people around:
Choo - 349 ABs at #1; 88 ABs at #2
Beltre - 76 ABs at #3; 342 ABs at #4
Rios - 175 ABs at #3; 265 ABs at #5

When you've lost as many players as Texas has... you end up having to juggle some things... some you don't have to.

With only the highest ABs presented in the order:
Batting 1st:
Choo - 349
Choice - 55
Robertson - 45
Martin - 40

Batting 2nd:
Andrus - 466 (SS)
Sardinas - 13 (IF)
Choice - 9 (OF)
Robertson - 8 (OF)

Batting 3rd:
Rios - 175 (OF)
Choo - 88 (OF)
Beltre - 76 (3B)
Fielder - 51 (1B)
Moreland - 51 (1B)

Batting 4th:
Beltre - 342
Fielder - 99

Batting 5th:
Rios - 265 (OF)
Kouzmanoff - 46 (3B)
Adduci - 39
Martin - 39

Batting 6th:
Moreland - 107 (1B)
Martin - 59 (OF)
Gimenez - 49 (C)
Arencibia - 49 (C)
Choice - 44 (OF)
Murphy - 41
Snyder - 30

Batting 7th:
Martin - 121 (OF)
Chirinos - 95 (C)
Arencibia - 44 (C)
Murphy - 43
Gimenez - 36 (C)
Pena - 24 (1B)
Choice - 23 (OF)
Soto - 13 (C)

I have one simple question, Dallas Ag. I know this is an impossible ask, but try to keep your response to one word - yes or no. Is it a smart move to have a guy with so little talent that (1) he just got cut by one of the other worst teams in the league, (2) was hitting .180 with 0 HR's 51 games at the time and (3) has never hit 3rd in his career bat 3rd in your lineup on a night when you have guys like Beltre and Rios in the lineup? Yes or no? Let's ignore who made the decision, just let me know if that decision is smart or not.

The idea to bat Carp where he is strictly based on him being left-handed. This is a dumb reason, but its the reason.

If I flip a quarter and it lands on heads 20 times in a row... what is my favorite color? Yes or No?

The bigger question is... why would even have such a guy on the team? If he sucks so bad... he shouldn't be in the lineup AT ALL.

Yet, we have Carp... Adduci... We have Mikolas pitching. We trotted Jerome Williams out there.

We picked up like 4 players from the "I got released from my team" crap heap.

Hell, even Kouz was from the crap heap.

Pena? Seriously?

Snyder?

Arencibia?

At a minimum you have to give Wash credit for having a sense of humor that he hasn't once said, "JD this team you've given me is crap!"

Sorry if I'm not going to micromanage a guys decision about where he puts people in the lineup when they are one of the worst teams in baseball, with so many players that shouldn't even be on a Major League roster, that even minor league teams believe they could beat them.

There's good old Carp, K'ing with the tying run at 3rd and 1 out. Nice.
