When I was a kid, we didn't have cable. I lived in Beaumont and was an Astros fan, so I would turn my TV to KRIV (later KTXH) Houston, get the best picture I could, turn off the sound, and turn on the radio. Any picture I could get was a bonus. Even after my parents finally got cable in 1989, I kept doing this... until 1995 when I got DirecTV.
These days, I live in Missouri and love to listen to the Cardinals on the radio. Unfortunately, it's way ahead of the television, which is digitized/compressed/encrypted and has to be re-uploaded and downloaded after DirecTV has processed it.
Someone on The Nerdery told me about this radio:
SportSync radio
http://www.sportsyncradio.com/
It has an adjustable delay slider which goes from 0 to 16 seconds. With a 9 second delay, I matched it to within about a quarter second of WGN's video last night. I got a perfect match with FS Midwest at 8 seconds this afternoon. I wish it was more precise than one second intervals, but it's still awesome.
Listening to Mike Shannon and John Rooney call games is > > than listening to Al Hrabosky and Dan McLaughlin on the telecast!
