....been watching the Royals since my dad first took me when I was 4yrs old (like, the 70's man!).

Friend just gave me 4 tickets to the WC game tomorrow night.....taking my dad and two of my boys!

One of my best memories was the day before I turned 16 my dad and I went to watch the Mariners, down 0-2 to the Yankees, in their first ever post season game. Randy Johnson on the mound. They won that and the series.

I took my kid to a Royals game this summer and loved Kauffman. There were 38k people at that game, but the stadium felt very small... in a good way, like there wasn't a bad seat in the house. My only complaint is that it was in the mid-90s for the game that I was there, and there was almost no air flow where I was - section 221. Looking at those damn fountains was torture. Actually, I liked the fountains too. Great park.

I became something of a Cardinals fan in the 80s when they made their three WS appearances because I loved Whiteyball and could get KMOX AM in Beaumont (my hometown). I moved here to Mid-Missouri a little more than a year ago and started rooting for the Cardinals. As my Astros had just been extorted out of the NL, it was a logical move.

Still rooting for the Royals, though.

KC was the one city that built stadiums in the late '60s thru the '70s that did it right by not going the multipurpose route. I've heard nothing but good things about both Arrowhead and Kauffman.

While true then, I think the city messed up by not building a new park downtown instead of the current renovation.

Kauffman is awesome. A friend works for the Royals and told me that every seat row curves towards the infield. So when you sit, you're facing the infield. You don't have to turn your head to see the pitcher/batter. It sucks for maintenance though b/c whenever a seat breaks, they have to custom fabricate brackets, etc. to put it back the same.

I don't agree on the downtown ball park. They cost a ton of money and the taxpayers never, ever get it back. Look at Minute Maid, the area immediately around it is OK, but 3-blocks East is a crap hole. Parking is not that great either.

That being said, the existing location of Kaufmann is not that great. There is nothing out there and nothing to do before a game. You drive out, maybe tailgate, go to the game, and go home.

Still can't believe what happened on Tuesday night.

Our CEO sent out a note yesterday and told everyone to wear jeans and Royals shirts (even t-shirts) to work Thursday and Friday!
