Fearing the Cardinals are in trouble if Yadi is injured. Their staff ERA was a full point higher for the 40 games he was hurt than it was the rest of the season.

Well, it's a series. 1-1 going to SF.

The Giants are without Pagan (and their ace (Cain) and two other everyday starters - Scutaro and Morse, though he's back for pinch hitting duty). It's amazing they made it this far.

The Giants win/loss with/without Pagan is even more lopsided than the Cardinals with/without Molina. Of course, the difference is that the Cardinals lost Molina in the series thinking they had him, while the Giants knew Pagan was out for surgery. Still, the Giants are without a lead-off hitter, while the Cardinals may be without their catcher calling the shots. That might tilt the odds in the Giants favor, but we're talking about the Cardinals who bring a strong pedigree. It'll go 6 or 7, and who knows who wins.

Game 2 was pretty incredible.

I went to pick my kid up at school at 3. I had the game on the radio on the drive over (no score) but turned it off when he got in the car. It was 4-0 by the time I got home!

This Cardinals team has been just painful to watch at times... a LOT of times this season, but damn they can scrap!

Oh, and you want to know one big difference between college ball and MLB... a college guy who gives up 4 in the 1st doesn't recover like Lackey has.

The frustrating part of the giants this postseason is that the offense is ice cold. Aside from a couple big hits, the offense has done nothing. If posey and pence decided to do anything (yes I know pence got an RBI today), it would be a cakewalk. Can't count on the opposition to give them 2+ games every series. I know the royals won't. Don't know about the orioles though.

I went to high school with Grichuk from the Cards.

He was a big ******, but it's pretty incredible to see him hit a post season home run.
