As I remember it, the Giants actually signed with Tampa/St. Pete to leave SF, but MLB refused to approve it.
I'd much rather have seen a game at Candlestick Park than that sh**hole in St. Petersburg. Watching games in all that wind was just crazy. It always made for a good late night game when the Astros were in the NL West, and I still lived in Texas.

That's right, but the goal was to find a new owner (and a new owner would bring a new stadium). MLB bought them time to do so. The stadium took a little while, but the new investors were behind it.

The Dodgers have always been enemy #1 to me (grew up an Astros fan in Beaumont). The Mets have become #2 as not a year passes that I don't hear a new story about something disgusting that someone on that team did back in the day.

I believed the Giants would come back when Matheny pulled Wainwright. He was on tonight, and the 2 Cardinal home runs (along with the abnormal weather) got in the Giants' hitters heads. That made him even more effective.
