Good news and more certainty.

Interesting to get it done now.

Any chance we see an extension to Gallardo?

We still are ok with Darvish.

Seems Hamels will inevitably get traded. At $23M per year for 5 more years. Sure is interesting. Imagine Darvish, Hamels, Holland and Gallardo.

I wonder if locking up certainty on Beltre was just a formality or something is brewing?!

From what I read:

1) money - they switched his 2015 and 2016 salaries to where he'll make $16 mil this year and $18 mil next

2) to eliminate uncertainty and distractions throughout the season if he's not reaching his plate appearance threshold

Edit to correct salaries, had them switched

Beltre will be making $18 mil. next year. This looks like Beltre giving us some budget room in exchange for a gaurantee next year. I wonder if this means we are looking at another signing?

Hall of Famer. Probably one of my five favorite Rangers ever - Pudge, Nolan, Sunny, Hough

Leaders for 3B, along with possible milestone to reach this year.

Games Played: 2424 (9th)
-- Gaetti 6th (2507)

Hits: 2604 (7th)
-- Chipper Jones at 5th (2726)

Doubles: 528 (4th)
-- Jones 3rd (549)

HRs: 395 (6th)
-- Evans at 5th (414)

RBI: 1384 (6th)
-- Mathews 5th (1453)

I believe those numbers (from MLB) are career when playing any position, and not just by a player at that position.

For instance, Beltre has played:
2315 GP as 3B \ 2517 H \ 511 2B \ 374 HR \ 1322 RBI \ 116 SB
71 GP as a DH
2 GP as a SS
1 GP as a 2B

I can't find an easy way to get stats for just when they played that position and compare. Only taking the splits from each player separately.

ARod is ahead of him in several for the career, but as a 3B... not so much:
1184 GP as 3B \ 1305 H \ 287 HR \ 907 RBI \ 136 SB
All but doubles, Beltre moves ahead of ARod for GP at 3B.

For Doubles:

George Brett has 665 (424 as a 3B)
Wade Boggs has 578 (536 as a 3B)
Chipper Jones has 549 (455 as a 3B)
Adrian Beltre has 528 (511 as a 3B)
Scott Rolen has 517 (516 as a 3B), so while he has fewer overall, as a 3B, he has more.

He is 3rd in Doubles by players while playing 3rd
Wade Boggs has 536 as a 3B
Scott Rolen has 516 as a 3B
Adrian Beltre has 511 as a 3B

He could very well pass both this season. This is going to be a fun season...

obviously STEROIDS here, but a-rod started playing 3B in 2004. Incredible how his numbers are that insane and he played there fulltime for only 9 years.

Beltre has had one hell of a run in arlington. Completely wrong about his contract panning out in Arlington
