I like the trade. An elite closer on a rebuilding team is a waste of money. By the time the Braves are ramping up to compete again after the 2016 season, they'll be able to find a closer good enough to fill the role. Getting out of Upton's contract was a must for the same reasons (rebuild after 2016). The move is great for the farm system.

I think they took Quentin to get the Pads to take Upton, since they DFA'd Quentin as soon as they got him. Both Quentin and Maybin's salaries won't be hurting the Braves when it's time to get big free agents after 2016, and some of the farm guys will probably be ready to play by then.
