I am moving to Belton. I am a Rangers fan and was a passive Astros fan before their bull**** move to the AL West. My wife is the opposite, a die hard Astros fan who also goes for the Rangers as long as it doesnt hurt the Astros.

When we were on the West coast it was great. MLB extra innings was all we needed.

When we were in Ft Worth that wouldnt work. Even with MLB extra Innings the Astros are blacked out in the DFW market.

Which brings me to Central Texas. Does anyone know how that works in Central Texas. Are both teams televised over regular channels? If we buy MLB Extra Innings will we see both teams?

Appreciate the input.

Pretty sure that's Rangers territory and you should be able to easily get FSSW. With any luck, you may be also able to get Root for the Astros.

Edit: No to Extra Innings.

Extra Innings will be blacked out for whatever market you are in, unless you use a proxy server from another part of the country.

MLB blackout rules are so dumb. I live 90 miles from Anaheim and the Angels are not blacked out for me. Yet some areas of the country block tons of teams.

I think if it is being broadcast locally, even on a 4th tier channel it gets blacked out. May be wrong though.

I'm in the Centex market. You'll get the Rangers on FSSW. The Astros aren't available on any providers in the area.

I'm not sure about MLB Extra Innings.

By the way, I got Direct TV and get both the Astros and Rangers here in Belton.

Pretty cool.

The MLB Broadcast territories for the Astros and Rangers completely overlap: the entire states of Texas and Louisiana are eligible to receive both Astros and Rangers games. Oklahoma and Arkansas can also receive the Astros and Rangers, as well as the Royals and Cardinals. Eastern New Mexico can receive the Astros and Rangers as well as the D'Backs and Rockies:

Now, whether your cable/satellite/IPTV provider picks up the respective regional sports networks for each team is a different matter. The Astros being on the newly-minted ROOT Southwest are on fewer carriers--basically just DirecTV, U-Verse, and Comcast. So if you want to watch the Astros in Texas, you must have one of those three carriers. Otherwise, it's "blacked out" on MLB TV, since you're technically "in market". Theoretically that's to "help" other carriers opt-in to your "local" RSN for your team.

I am from Temple and have family in both Belton and Temple. I know Time Warner Cable in Temple on FSSW gets Rangers games.
