I originally posted this in the Astros thread, but I figured the rest of the board would enjoy this story as well.

Something crazy that was possibly missed in the 8th inning of the Orioles' 18-2 rout of the A's yesterday:

  • The A's put in a 1st baseman to pitch, who gets the 1st batter to fly out.
  • The 2nd batter he faces is the Orioles pitcher, as the Orioles substituted their DH earlier in the game and lost the DH position
  • A's 1B/P walks the pitcher
  • Strikes out the leadoff man
  • Pops up the #2 hitter and gets out of the inning

TLDR summary: A's 1st baseman pitches the 8th inning, pitches around the Orioles pitcher (who is batting in an AL ballpark) to get to the leadoff man, who he then proceeds to strikeout. He's pitched several times this season, and boasts a 0.00 ERA.
