I am thinking between 12 and 12.75, but I am no expert. What do you guys recommend?

My 10 year old wears a 11.5 inch and it's almost too small. I would guess 12.0 would be too small, but you should go to an Academy and try some gloves out to know for sure.

Depends on the brand and fit. not trying to avoid your question but he really needs to try it on and decide.

Pocket depth and width means more to me than the heel to top length.

Forget the measurements. Put it on the kid's hand! You gonna measure his wife too?

At 13 years old I would still want a somewhat versatile glove. I would recommend a 12" - it is plenty big to play the OF just fine and small enough to spin down to play the infield or pitch. I would be more focused on the quality of glove and breaking it in.

I had a 12" A2000 and 13" OF glove and always preferred my smaller A2000 no matter where I played.

Lets be realistic though, an A2000 will run $300+ but i do agree with 12" if you ensure the fit he can slide his fingers over and that will provide extra pocket depth when playing OF

I was serious. A 13 year old should be able to choose his own glove, judge how it will break in, and what size to get. Your job is to flash the plastic rectangle.

Wasn't intending to lobby for specifically an A2000 - just the general size and quality. I got mine about 12 or 13 and I still use it at 30 for softball games, etc.

If you get a new glove take it to D i c k s and have them break it in. Costs a little bit but totally worth it.

How do they do that? I hope not steam...really shortens the glove life.

Steam and they beat it with a wooden club. Leaving it in the trunk of your car will do worse.

They do that with the hand in it, right?
