We need a #2 quality starter to be out #3 pitcher behind LMJ and Dallas and well be fine as far as pitching goes. Some of the young guys (Devo, Feliz, musgrove) can battle the 5th spot.


That's fair, I guess I flushed the season out of my head and forgot how much the BP worked, however Giles needs to figure his s*** out so closer is not a revolving f***ing door.

it will be funny when 1 guy in the lineup is making more than the other 8 players combined.

He should feel comfortable playing with all of the 'stros Latin players

I would be okay with something like this. Lots of flexibility with this roster. Cespedes would be expensive, but if you can get him to sign a three or four year deal, I think it could work.

I don't think we can count on lance as being more than a #3 at this point. He stays hurt, and has command issues. He needs to at least stay healthy to be a number 2.

And who the hell knows what we get outta keuchel moving forward... can't count on him either. Our staff is not built for a regular season, much less a playoff scenario. Need a stud ace, not a lunhow special.

A stud ace would be great, but there aren't any available in free agency and most teams that have one aren't trading them. Best hope is for Keuchel to regain his Cy Young form or McCullers to stay healthy.

More realistically would be to have three guys atop the rotation with ERAs in the 3s giving us a chance to win more games. Whether that's guys rebounding, staying healthy, or going to get someone, we need better starts, one through three.

He's signed for two more years at $6M per, so yes. If he can return to his career numbers, it would be a huge improvement. He doesn't have to match the great 2015 season he had. Just his career average would be great.

You either can count on him or you can't.

When he's healthy he is a low end number one. When he's not then he's below spot starter on the end of the bench.

His career ERA 3.22 with over 10 Ks per 9 at 22 years old.

Saw an interesting take on twitter somewhere.

Would it be a good move to sign Matt Holliday?

I'm not sure I'd let him play OF but we could DH him, let Gattis catch, and chunk deuces to Castro. Give him Colby's $15MM per year for 2 years and hope he can hit .250-.275 with 25 HRs. Think he'd make a pretty solid 5 hole hitter

Here are his stats for the last 3 years (BA/OBP/SLG/OPS)

2014 (156 games) - .272/.370/.441/.811 with 20 HRs and 90 RBIs
2015 (73 games) - .279/.394/.410/.804 with 4 HRs and 35 RBIs
2016 (110 games) - .246/.322/.461/.782 with 20 HRs and 62 RBIs

I wouldn't be against it especially if we miss out on Cespedes then maybe he could play LF and DH.

He's going to be 37 next year. Maybe you look at him on a one year deal in the $7M range with incentives. I doubt he'd take it, but he's too old for a multi-year contract and too injury prone for a full salary.

I know this is a bit off topic, but seeing JA Happ win 20 games is perplexing to me, while I thought he had decent stuff he seemed to leave it up and out over the plate too much for my taste. While the trade needed to occur, just to give him a new start and the Astros to pick up some prospects, I never thought in a million years the guy would win 20 games.

Just by posting that, you have kicked off their run to the WS crown, with no less than five one-run victories.

But it is an interesting read. I know many Astros fans hate hearing about the future, but when you look at the young, controllable talent on our roster and what's coming up the pipeline, it's hard not to get excited.
