Preseason power rankings based on my projections (last year's finish in parenthesis):
1. Cincy Flying Pigs (6)
2. Anchorage Moosen (2)
2. Deep Ellum Boppers (9)
4. Preston Shorebirds (4)
5. Gulf Coast Looters (5)
6. South Padre Pelicans (3)
7. Dinger Berries (7)
8. Las Vegas Broncos (10)
9. Milwaukee Beers (1)
10. Seabrook Shrimpers (13)
11. FAKE BASEBALL TEAM (11)
12. Winnipeg Americans (8)
13. Texarkana Tortugas (12)
14. Denton Divers (14)
Thought this might generate some discussion. It's worth noting that these figures will be slightly off from true power rankings because the projections are accounting for the next 3 years worth of production. These projections are also based on the total value of the team - if you are unbalanced in terms of hitting/pitching this may slightly overrate you. My projections really love Cincy though - his team is worth ~70 points more than the next closest.
The roto scores (which might provide a better ranking system given that it will force you to account for team balance) produced the following power rankings:
1. Cincy Flying Pigs (6)
2. Deep Ellum Boppers (9)
3. Anchorage Moosen (2)
4. Dinger Berries (7)
5. South Padre Pelicans (3)
6. Gulf Coast Looters (5)
7. Milwaukee Beers (1)
8. Preston Shorebirds (4)
9. Las Vegas Broncos (10)
10. Seabrook Shrimpers (13)
11. FAKE BASEBALL TEAM (11)
12. Texarkana Tortugas (12)
13. Winnipeg Americans (8)
14. Denton Divers (14)
Cincy comes out on top here again, although with a much slimmer lead between himself and those ranked 2-5 than through the other formula. These obviously don't mean anything, and they certainly can't account for injuries, trades, and waiver/free agent pickups, but I will be interested to see how they compare to the final results at the end of the year.
