anyone have experience with public transit in San Francisco? In particular, riding or getting from the closest train station to Oracle park? Is it walkable?

Eight to go after this.

My parents live in Alameda county, across the Bay, so all my experience getting to Oracle (formerly AT&T, formerly Pac Bell) is coming from there.

From either the Montgomery St or Embarcadero BART stations it's walkable. A tad under a mile. I've done it for a day game, not sure how I'd feel about the walk back after a night game. (I got on at the Dublin/Pleasanton station.)

If you stay in the east bay, you can also take the ferry from either Jack London Square in Oakland or Alameda, unless you're going to a mid-week day game. That drops you off right outside the park, near right field, and it's a beautiful ride on a sunny day. The ferry run starts at Jack London, then stops in Alameda, so you can get more choice of seats if you board there. Plus Alameda is an island and getting there is more involved than getting to Oakland.

OTOH, Alameda is also home to the museum ship USS Hornet, which made the pick up of the Apollo 11 astronauts, if you want to do some other touristy things.

ETA: There's also Muni light rail that runs right by Oracle, but I've never used that.

very helpful info. i will be taking the train from the airport. i just recently learned of the light rail option, i've been on the bart train when i went to Oakland so I got that part down. This would be a day game on a Sunday. Departing flight at 7, game over by about 4. so I think walking would be fine.

thank you!

My brother and I are heading to Detroit and Milwaukee in a few weeks. Outside of hoping for good weather in Detroit, is there anything special I should do at either park? I would like to get a picture with the Uecker statue in Milwaukee.

If we are in Chicago with a car, is there public parking at the stadiums?

Or would we be better off leaving the car at the hotel and taking a train or cab?

I've never been to Rate Field (I think that's the name of the White Sox stadium now) but for Wrigley, there is parking at people's houses near the stadium. I think we paid $25 to park in someone's yard. You could probably do Uber too. We were too far out to take the train when we went so, I'm not sure.

I got screwed on someone's garage space by Wrigley, the alley was blocked by a delivery truck. Luckily Spot Hero refunded me and I was able to find a lot a few blocks away.

If you are easily able to take a train/The L, I would just do that. The L lets off outside right field, easy-peasy.

Just got back from Chicago and got games in for both teams. Drove through some terrible weather on the way out, but it was beautiful during the games.

I bought a pass online for one of the Toyota sponsored lots near wrigley, and it worked great. It was actually cheaper than parking at our hotel…

Now my son and I are at 21.
