He's got to have an opt out in there. Lower AAV than Machado.
13 years and no Bobby Bonilla money. That's nuts. This is like buying a car on a 13 year note. Upside down forever on a depreciating asset.astros4545 said:
Anyone else feel this is a better deal from a team perspective than arenado and especially Machado
It is nuts, but it's nothing like buying a car, which as you said is a depreciating asset. Unless it's a classic, a car is never more valuable than the day you buy it. Harper is just entering his prime.mathguy86 said:13 years and no Bobby Bonilla money. That's nuts. This is like buying a car on a 13 year note. I would too if I got a guaranteed $330,000,000. We are talking about changing his great grandkids (or the next generation) lives with this type of money. And if invested wisely his entire lineage.ORAggieFan said:

You guys are weird, he worked hard and put in a ton of time to get to this point and a rich billionaire who wanted to spend "stupid money" decided to give it to this hard working young man and you guys are weirdly concerned about the salary. Be happy for the man, CEO's make this much and Bryce is much like a CEO here, he's the face of the franchise and one of the most popular players in the game. I don't know if the billionaire will get the ROI he wants or if he even cares, but the Phillies should be positioned to be pretty good for a while and the NL east looks like it should be a blast to follow for the next few years with 4 teams actually trying to win now.
Sometimes in order to get nice things you have to pay the big bucks. I think it's awesome that Harper wanted to spend the rest of his career in one city and hope that loyalty pays off for him.
Reminder, it's not your money, it's the owner's money.

I heard on the radio yesterday with people talking about how in 10 years it won't be a very big salary and all I could think was how are they gonna make salaries bigger. People aren't attending games at any higher rate and if they try to raise ticket prices too much, the attendance will drop. Only option is having richer owner, but I'm not sure that's gonna happen either.

Is Trout going to get a 20 year deal for 500 million?
That is going to be a crazy contract he is going to get. Not to mention he looks like a fat bomb waiting to go off when he hits his 30'sBMX Bandit said:Trout will be 29 when hes a free agent, coming off a season making $33mm.Frok said:
