The New York Governor announced that anyone coming from a state that has a high infection rate has to quarantine for 14 days. That might make it difficult for teams to play there also hard for their players to get there from various parts of the country. Florida and Texas are surely on that list.

With 10 games against each AL west opponent, look for 5 game series.
That would make sense but it looks like they are going to be broken down into 2 and 3 game series.

The schedule
In an effort to minimize travel as much as possible, teams will play all 60 games only against their own division and the corresponding interleague division. Those 60 games will be laid out this way:
VERSUS OWN DIVISION: Every team will play 10 games apiece against each of the other four teams in its division, for a total of 40 games. Those games would largely be broken down into three-game and two-game series.

VERSUS INTERLEAGUE DIVISION: Each club will play a total of 20 games against the corresponding interleague division (i.e., East versus East, Central versus Central, West versus West). Six of those games would be against a team's interleague "rival" (Yankees-Mets, Cubs-White Sox, etc.). The breakdown of the other 14 games has yet to be finalized, but is expected to involve each team playing two interleague opponents three times apiece and the other two clubs four times apiece.

EASIEST TRAVEL: The 10 NL East and AL East teams will never leave their time zone, so they will have by far the most manageable travel load. The Yankees and Mets, for instance, will play just four teams located more than 240 miles from New York (Rays, Blue Jays, Marlins, Braves).

HARDEST TRAVEL: The 10 NL West and AL West clubs will be forced to cover three time zones (West, Mountain, Central). And while that's nothing new in a normal year, it's a major travel challenge in a season like this, at least compared with the other four divisions.

This is much easier on the eyes. Quite an expensive downgrade.

Their new stadium does look hideous, but going to an air conditioned game is worth the visual downgrade in Texas.

Agreed. I think the sight lines and closeness to the field are supposed to be good. But then they have carpet and not grass. For ever step forward there is another step back.

Cant for the life of me understand the turf. Their old stadium was aesthetically a beauty, but it was like watching a game while sitting in the devils ass crack. AC was an absolute must but if the roof can open why cant they play on grass??
Im looking for Ray Finkle.... and a clean pair of shorts. Im just a very big Finkle fan. This is my Graceland, sir.

It's my understanding they're using it for concerts and other events so grass wasn't an option.

It's a multi-use event space they play baseball in.

So why not do the same thing that they do in Phoenix and have turf they can bring in and out?

I though a team would only travel to a given city once... maybe I misunderstood.

Leave it to MLB to make even a 60 game schedule as convoluted as possible. Breaking up the 10 games 3-2-3-2 is just dumb...seems like if you're really concerned about player health and all, limiting travel would reduce risk some.

Then the interleague...5 teams in the other division, 20 games. How about, say, 4 games against each team? Who really gives a **** about an interleague "rival" this year. Pick one of the teams to split 2-2 home/away, then 4 game series against the others.

You mean the football stadium?

I'm not an engineer but I would think that'd be tough for a baseball stadium as opposed to a football stadium where you just open up a big garage door and roll in a rectangular piece of turf.

Anyways, twitter is having a field day over that monstrosity.

Wow, Arlington. Bold decision to model your new "stadium" after the Brazos County Expo Complex.

The best 60-game stretch in Astros history happened several times last year, when the club went 43-17 five different times (overlapping at some point) to win a franchise-record 107 games. Houston started last season 40-20 en route to its third consecutive AL West title and 100-win season.

oh my, I had not seen any pictures previously of the Rangers' new stadium.

Is the roof transparent, as in just like the dome was when fielders complained they couldn't see flyballs?

Man I suck at posting stuff off the interwebs. No idea how I ever got the sardine can pic to post. There is some pretty funny **** on chron.com.
In fairness Arlington has a pretty cool looking stadium, albeit a complete ripoff of the juice box, from field level but it is a gawd dam abomination from above. They spent that much money on accruements and then wrapped it in corrugated metal and bailing wire.
