I would honestly be shocked if there were no moves today based off what I've been told the last few weeks. This happens every single year. You'll see a move soon and the dominoes start to fall throughout the league.

Prospects, minor league player rankings, etc are all garbage. Evident by so many top players never panning out and so many late round picks who turn into major league contributors.

The goal is to win on the big club. The current team is in position to give it another run and to win back to back World Series. Imo you trade damn near anyone in the minors if it means receiving proven big league talent. Granted $ plays a role, but I hate the idea of certain prospects being untouchable. Nobody can predict the future, but if you're in contention in the present you do what you have to go and try to win another.

And I hate the idea of doing whatever it takes to win a WS because nothing is guaranteed in the post season.

The only reason the Astros are in the position they are in year 7 of this run is BECAUSE they didn't trade away just anyone to sellout for 1 ring every year.

Look at what the Rangers have done. They have spent big money on some older and oft injured guys and just traded a really big piece for another really old guy to try to win one this year. I don't think they'll be in the running 3 years from now.

With the crapshoot of the draft in baseball, you may not be able to reload very year on really good young talent at the big club level. It might be 2 years away. Each guy you trade away in the system puts you further away from a young guy being ready to produce and help the big league club.

The Rams fans were happy with their 1 Super Bowl, but they went all in and missed this playoffs last year. Now they look like they may not make the playoffs the next couple of years.

It's balance. Make the big move when it makes sense, but you need a system to have sustained success. I don't want to root for a team that wins it once and then has no shot the next 7-8 years. That would suck. These past 7 years have been a hell of a lot more fun.

Do you want a bye and home field advantage vs Min or a wild card team or do you want a best of 3 at Min or Tampa? Then a road series at Tex or Balt Winning the division means a 7 th straight trip to ALCS most likely. Getting the wild card might end that streak at 6.

That said, we can still win the division with no more trades.
