I was NOT there, but was watching at home when it happened. Definitely remember that. Dumbest thing Ventura did was to drop his helmet and bat prior to charging the mound! He could've used that helmet (with a chin strap)

This is not looking good at all.

Nathan Eovaldi (forearm) is 2-3 weeks away from pitching in a game, #Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said. Eovaldi was supposed to play catch today.

Not good at all. We're basically back to where we were before the deadline with Scherzer and Montgomery taking the place of deGrom and Eovaldi.

I agree we've improved more than anyone via trade.

The issue is we've also declined as much of anyone in the last 2 weeks due to injury. We have 3 all-stars on the shelf right now, with very big questions on whether we'll see 2 of them at all the rest of the year.

Seems like Seager could be back any day now and I saw someone mention earlier in the thread that Bochy said Eovaldi should be back for his next scheduled start or something like that.

The only one I'm worried about long term is Heim. Eovaldi also had an MRI that was clean. Degroms most recent mri wasn't clean. Big difference there.

June of '21 deGrom had a clean MRI, 4 starts later he was on the shelf for 14 months.

Eovaldi has gone from "precautionary loss of velocity" to MRI to "seeing Dr Meister".

Not saying it's likely, but it's certainly very questionable.

Not necessarily.

Dunning kinda took the "place" of deGrom. At a minimum, he was a nice surprise to emerge.

Right now we have:
Scherzer
Dunning
Montgomery
Gray
Heaney
Perez

SDP just shut down Musgrove and Tampa has McClanahan sidelines.

This is a season of attrition for SPs. Most teams have dug deep into their minors with limited result. We've trotted out OWhite and Bradford.

I am very encouraged by the depth of options we have. They may not all be ToTR guys, but they are reliably available. Look around the Leagues... it is bad.

ETA - Joe Ryan /Twins has hit the IL, as well.

I said it with DeGrom (and was made fun of) but usually with pitchers the injury is a level above the pain. Forearm strains usually turn out to be elbow issues

These Miami uniforms are tight.

Good for him. If you are pulling in seven figures a year you should have a nice looking girlfriend.

Montgomery having a really tough time getting his fastball inside to righties. Didn't cost him against Soler, cost him against Bell, and almost cost him against De La Cruz there.

It's a righty / lefty thing, depending on the pitcher. Bochy started it a few weeks back.
